Popular Post webfact Posted March 8, 2023 Popular Post Posted March 8, 2023 Picture: Siam RathSiam Rath reported that Surat Thani immigration continued to be strict in dealing with overstayers and other offences in their province in the south of Thailand. On Monday three foreigners were arrested on overstay. Picture: Siam Rath The first, Leonid, 50, from Russia had been in Thailand 188 days past the end of his visa. He was found at a convenience store in Chalok Lam, Koh Phangan. Picture: Siam Rath Also arrested at a resort on the holiday island was French lady Miriam, 36, who had overstayed by six days. She appeared to be smiling behind her mask. The third to be detained was a man called Christian, 42, from Italy on a nine day overstay. Picture: Siam Rath He appeared to be angrily pointing at the cameraman. Also falling foul of the law was a Thai man called Jetsada or "Jack" wanted in Songkhla for conspiracy in aiding and abetting illegal immigration. Picture: Siam Rath He was named in a warrant in February and was taken back to the far south to face charges after his arrest on Saturday in Wang sub-district of Surat Thani on the mainland. -- © Copyright ASEAN NOW 2023-03-08 - Cigna offers a range of visa-compliant plans that meet the minimum requirement of medical treatment, including COVID-19, up to THB 3m. Immigration trawl the area where I live regularly looking for illegals and overstays. Luckily, it is regularly and not frequently. That is why we have to keep the TM 30 reporting up to date. 1 1

Tropicalevo Posted March 8, 2023 Posted March 8, 2023 3 hours ago, mikeymike100 said: So do they stop all the 'foreigners' and ask for passports etc? No, they go round knocking on doors and ask to see the passports and TM 30 reports. The area is mainly holiday villa rentals with a smattering of private houses. Almost 100% foreigners. Easy pickings for Immigration police. 1

Popular Post Tropicalevo Posted March 8, 2023 Popular Post Posted March 8, 2023 I am not sure why some posters think that the number of days overstay is important. At the end of the day, that is the law. Same in every country that has visitors on visas. A bit like DUI? It does not matter how drunk you are, it is the fact that you are drunk and over a legal limit. 3 2 1

File an extension. Even from the hospital you can do it. That 6 days is likely to turn to 600 and 900. I applaud them. Make examples out of them and blacklist and deport them! This will stop future tourists from breaking immigration rules and less to go after. Personally, I think they need to make visa rules easier provided you can show proof of funds. Nobody wants a begging deadbeat. 1 4 1 1

But they are overstayers, an area the IB are responsible for and a job the IOs are employed to do. At what stage do illegal actions become liable for IB action in your mind? What if one of these overstayers is wanted for more serious crimes, would not checking them be acceptable to you? 1 1 1
