Changing Phone Battery at Samsung Service Center North Pattaya?

My older but still great for me Samsung phone is getting to the point where the battery needs Viagra, so instead of being a typical conformist consumer, I'm thinking, how about a new battery instead of a new phone?

 

So I asked at the Samsung shop in Central and they said the service center can do.

 

But can they really?

 

Has anyone done that there?

 

I assume they don't do it on the spot and you need to leave your phone for later pickup. For how long? Do you recommend removing your Sim card for security?

 

Is it still located here?

My daughter's mother did it and she left the phone for one day and picked up the following day. And of course I paid for htat and it was 1,000 baht I think.

I read the new iPhone and Samsungs are manufactured to replace batteries easily. 

 

The older phones are made in such a way its difficult to replace. 

 

If the above comment is correct, 1000 baht to replace an older phone battery seems cheap. 

If you go ahead, take it direct to Samsung on North Pattaya Rd.

Why should anyone doubt that a Samsung Service centre would be able to replace a Samsung phone's battery?  If they can't, who could?

I used their service several times already. Was always a great experience. Very confidential data I store on the SD Card of the phone if possible. This I always remove before I give it to them. But you could also use encryption.

Of course, the Samsung shop can do it. As can ALL the phone repair shops in Tukcom, they will need 40-50 mins and do it cheaper. With an old phone, you anyway don't worry about warranty 

And yes, SIM and SD cards should be removed before

Why an OEM battery? You won't get more than 3 months warranty anyway, and the non-OEM batteries will last another 2-3 years, until a phone change will be unavoidable anyway

I know that I pay more at Samsung. But I don't want to burn down my hut because of a cheap battery.

Who said they will even put a new one in! Just past experiences, my wife had her phone fixed at TukCom (non battery issue) and they took out her OEM battery and put some other one in that she said lasted less time. I just happen to have more faith in OEM parts. Warranty is not the point.  Not sure what you even mean by 'a phone change being unavoidable' Is 3G to be phased out?

Why would an an known customer's SIM be of any interest to Samsung and what are you suggesting about Samsung?

To reduce risk of explosion / fire.

I would never go anywhere but Samsung for this.

Well fair question.

I assume phone manufacturers would much rather that everyone with a weak  battery buy a new phone.

Perhaps they have a cut off date for stocking batteries for older phones.

They're not in the businesses for their health.

Of course trendy youth want a new model every year or so.

When I told the sales lady at the shop what model I had  she seemed kind of disgusted like it might have cooties.

But obviously that's the place to go but you don’t know until you do.

I have had my battery replaced at a Samsung service centre (not in Pattaya). If I recall correctly, it cost 1000 baht for the battery plus they added a service charge of about 500 baht. They had to order the battery so they ordered one and called me a few days later when it arrived. I returned to the Service centre the next day and they did it on the spot. 

 

When they replaced the battery, they took the SIM card out and gave it to me in a plastic bag so I had the SIM all the time. The funny thing was that they said they'd call me when the phone was ready. Made me laugh as they had my phone but next time I'll take a spare phone with me, or just hang around in the Service centre while they change the battery. Also, as the phone battery is designed to be non-replaceable (by the customer) they sealed the phone up again afterwards.

Can someone please check the map I posted in the OP to confirm that's still the location?

 

To add my battery is still usable but clearly in the decline phase.

 

I may as well check the new models similar to my current phone to see if there is any compelling reason to upgrade.

This is just your assumption. About 3 months ago they replaced the start button of my Note II (that I bought 2013) at exactly this Samsung Service Center. No problem and I paid only 350 Baht - see working phone picture taken just before. Good for the next 10 years ????????????. In respect of battery costs it depends on the battery.

You can add the Samsung Service Center Pattaya as Line friend and chat with them. Their Line ID is

Yes, North Pattaya 

 

Sadly they moved, many years ago they were on the Sukhumvit, adjacent to the Thepprasit intersection.
