An elderly woman has been dragged away after shouting and cursing at the Thai PM as he visited the western province of Ratchaburi. According to a Nation Thailand report, the unnamed woman was part of a crowd of people who had gathered at Ban Pong Community Hall yesterday morning to greet PM Prayut Chan-o-cha.

It’s understood that when the PM appeared, the woman starting shouting and cursing at him. She was quickly subdued by two female police officers, who covered her mouth and attempted to push her out of the way. However, the woman continued her shouting and cursing, forcing other officers to drag her away to an area behind a parked van.

According to the report, one officer told witnesses that the woman was fainting and that she was taken away to receive first-aid.

During the same visit, another woman held up three fingers, a well-known gesture to symbolise opposition to the government. She was also quickly removed after officials surrounded her and escorted her away.

Not everyone was in favour of expressing anti-government sentiment, with several people in the crowd shouting at the woman and berating her for embarrassing the residents of Ban Pong.

It’s understood that a member of the press who was present took photographs and filmed the incident, with officials subsequently asking to see his press pass and questioning his reasons for filming.

The PM was visiting Ratchaburi to check on the progress of various government projects in the province. Political debate is heating up in Thailand ahead of the general election, which is expected to be held on May 7.

The PM has already dropped hints that he could dissolve the House of Representatives following a Cabinet meeting scheduled to take place on March 14.

Now't like a bit of suppression of the freedom of speech..........

Bet it was all a bit of a misunderstanding and the great one wasn't aware  of this happening.

It's a pity he didn't come another 30klms and he could have seen the " Black Snow " and smoke  from the numerous field fires.

A really pathetic move. The police should never have roughed her up like that. I thought China was where you would see this sort of thing.

All to protect fragile egos.  So many sad little men in LOS.

No matter how you feel about the government it is a silly thing to do.  She could end up in jail or have to be rehabilitated.

Just doing their job, right. I wish some people would actually start doing their job and sack all those incompetent nitwits who have no idea what they’re talking about, like this national police chief. Whatever happened to free speech? Or does that not apply when the commoners wish to criticize those in power, like Dear Leader?

Yes, nobody ever managed to achieve change from going up against the authorities and being disruptive. You achieve change by meekly doing what you're told, accepting the status quo given you by the A-maat and wait for Karma to take its course. Shouldn't be more than a couple hundred years more before that'll do the trick.
