Look at comment below yours

This is a forum where people make posts and sometimes others reply to them.

Would you have replies turned off or just replies you don't like turned off?

Thus is a discussion forum where people ask questions or make observations and other people reply.

Perhaps you are talking about signatures?

Thin skinned?

Wanna have some fun? Go try to post on teakfloor. They will chew you alive, compared to their blog we are still on training wheels here when it comes to razzing each other.

I don't even know how to generate these quotes/mottos.

Too ignorant

I welcome comments, though "somebody" is very impersonal, I would rather see who makes the comment, or likes or is confused!

..and there's me thinking that was just a user name????

Does it need a non native speaker like me to understand what the rant is about?

Quite sure the topic starter refers to such:

I don't see anything there.  Maybe you can turn quotes off?

OP, try to find out if you can turn quotes off in the settings somewhere.

Ah.  You can turn them off.

You got it!

So if one feels disturbed just switch off.

"Account Settings" -> "Signature".

It is not considered a quote, it's a signature.  +quote is actually a link so a person can use to quote a particular poster's post they may want to reference in their post instead of 'cutting & pasting'.....

I think my signature has been there for 15+ years when I first joined this website.

Perhaps if some folks would take the time to actually understand the website and all it's various tools/functions instead of bickering at every little thing then they would know what things are and how they work.

I find that many do to know what a 'screen shot' is or how to generate one. I'm guessing those are the same folks who have no idea how to set the clock on their microwave or couldn't operate a VCR back in the day.

People who only view this site via mobile will never see the signatures, so it's kind of understandable that people won't know what the OP is referring to considering the wording.

I did the same when 'somebody' had liked my posts a lot. I thought 'somebody' was following me and I wanted to know more about 'somebody' so I tried checking out his/her profile and found that there was nobody using 'somebody' as their alias. That's when I figured it out, it was the webmaster who changed it so nobody could identify who was liking or disliking a person's posts. Perhaps it was a thought it was a way there would be less harassing/flaming/ridiculing/arguing with others.

How did that work out webmaster?

Ah.  You can turn them off.

Click the drop down arrow next to your profile pic on the top right; click "account settings"; under "overview" on the left click "signature"; then you'll see a toggle switch under "view signatures" in the list of options which you can click.  Once the toggle is to the left and is grey, you should no longer see signatures.

Edit: even easier, you can click the arrow to the right of the signature and an option to hide signatures appears, click that.

Thanks done
