During debate Tuesday on a bill banning gender-affirming care for transgender minors, Missouri State Senator Mike Moon suggested children as young as 12 should have the right to marry with parental permission.

 

"Do you know any kids who have been married at age 12? I do. And guess what? They're still married," Moon said in response to questioning by Democratic state Representative Peter Merideth. A clip of the interaction has garnered attention on social media.

Just a few weeks ago Boebert said she was proud that she'll be a 34 year old grandmother, as her 17 y.o. son knocked up his girlfriend.  Boebert had her first born when she was 17.  Maybe that term family values has a particular meaning in the US hinterland.

12 y.o.?  That would mean they are not adults, so they can't legally sign a contract, marriage or otherwise.  Sounds like parents selling their kids, like in some far-away countries.

Upon reflection I've decide that "Sick!" is a gross understatement.  Assuming marriage to a twelve year old includes sex with that twelve year old, it's revolting child abuse and should come with severe penalties.  Only a dangerous pedophile would do this sort of thing.

Mohammed married a six year old, although to be fair, the marriage wasn't consummated until she was nine.......
