A tragic jet ski collision occurred on Pattaya Beach in Chonburi Province. The Sawang Boriboon Thammasat Rescue Radio Center received the report and promptly alerted Pattaya City Police Station officers and tourist police who were dispatched to the scene.

Upon arrival, authorities found panicked onlookers as staff and good Samaritans helped recover a severely injured 7-year-old boy who had a broken chin and jaw, and had been fallen in the water.

The other victim, a 35-year-old jet ski driver identified as Mr. Pornsuwan, was found lifeless at the bottom of the sea, 15 meters from the shore, after an extensive search, reported Siam Rath.

Eyewitness accounts, including those of a 25-year-old man and a Vietnamese citizen, described two jet skis colliding, causing the victims to fall into the water. While the young boy was wearing a life jacket, which helped bring him to the surface, he later succumbed to his injuries. The driver, who was not wearing a life jacket, drowned.

Pol.Lt.Col. Chanan Kesornbua, an inspector at Pattaya Police Station, confirmed the identities of the deceased and revealed that involved parties, identified as being of Indian descent, disappeared after the incident.

Authorities are currently examining CCTV footage to establish the cause of the collision and locate the missing individuals.

A 35 year old man and seven year old boy were killed in a jet ski accident yesterday at Pattaya Beach, Bang Lamung district, Chon Buri province, eastern Thailand.

At 7pm, officers at Pattaya City Police Station were informed that a jet ski overturned in the sea near the entrance of Soi 14 and two people were missing. Police rushed to the scene with doctors from Bangkok Hospital and responders from the Sawang Boriboon Rescue Foundation.

Seven year old Pathomphon Phonrat was unconscious and seriously injured when he was pulled from the sea. There was a lot of blood coming out of his mouth, his neck and jaw were broken and his neck was bruised, reports ThaiRath.

Rescue workers performed CPR on the child and rushed him to Bangkok Hospital in Pattaya, where he tragically succumbed to his injuries and passed away at 10.10pm. Doctors said the child died from a broken neck and jawbone.

How could this happen? Don't all jet ski renters give extensive instruction in safe operation of the craft? And must wear life preservers requirement? Seems like this "accident" took place around sunset: a terrible time to drive a car with impaired visibility... imagine the glare off the water into your eyes. Probably didn't see it coming.

Jeez Renting out jet skis out after sunset, did the Indians return the jet ski?

very sad and tragic for the poor 7yr old boy who later succumbed to his horrific injuries, a broken neck and broken jaw.

RIP poor kid,  always remembered.

As for the Indian's ...  well they did a runner just like any Thai bus driver would following an accident.

Here we go again. Different versions of the same story.

The Aseannow story claims there were two Indians involved.

And the Tiger News version who says the jetski flipped backed up by an eye witness, with no mention of any Indians.

I know which one i find to be more credible.

On the other hand there is no visible damage to the jetski?

And no other jetski depicted and mentioned the whereabouts.

And another story indeed says driver did a sharp curve and thrown off/flipped.

Jet skies are an absolute scourge on society.......I'd ban them all from today onwards.

Let's do the same to motorbikes. Very few deaths if they were not on the roads.

Yes. And also bad cars, trucks, bicycles, and walking. That would reduce accidents.

On a serious note... Is it normal for children to be allowed on them?

I would not let my 7 year old child go on one of those things..

Bloody right, I got stuck behind some strange little vehicle towing a line of 3 of them on a main road in Jomtien. What with the samlors, food carts and now these damned election loudspeaker vehicles, traffic is grinding to near stationary.

Seven year old child on the jetski.

Adult no live vest and likely a non swimmer.

What more idiocy does it need?

And the unscrupulous jet ski Mafiosi rent to everyone.

Completely analog to renting (big) bikes with no questions asked.

And that will not change as they won't be held responsible.

The man was probably a part of the crew who takes them out of the water for the day. His kid was probably just hanging around. If you had to drag those damn things out of the water 6 or 7 days a week for years on end you probably wouldn't be doing a safety checklist either

Your post is a mystery to me.

What "man" are you referring to? The deceased?

Part of the "crew"? Where do you find that?

"Kid hanging around"?

Sorry can't get it.

It turns out the story of an Indian tourist colliding into a jet ski and running away was incorrect and fabricated and the owner of the jet ski, which was unlicensed, that was involved in a fatal accident that took two lives is being charged. #Pattaya

Thanks for that... although why the involvement of another jet ski was originally claimed I do not grasp.

Oh really. You cant get it eh.

It was the evening and getting dark. If you've ever spent any time around the docks there, you'll notice that the jet ski "mafia" loads up their jet skiis onto trailers at the end of the business day, at this time. The deceased were both Thai. They were probably part of the crew that removes the jet skiis from the water.
