8 Thai men were apprehended while illegally felling trees in the reserved forest of Chiang Mai, northern Thailand, on June 11th.

The alleged illegal timber cutters were arrested by police for the prevention and suppression of crime against natural resources and the environment. They were found while felling trees in the Chom Thong National Reserved Forest in Chiang Mai.

The men had chainsaws, seven machetes, and three barrels of gasoline in their possession. Chiang Mai Police stated that the suspects had been hired by investors to encroach upon the forest reserve areas, which are actually given to local villagers with legal certification from the Department of Forestry, to use.

Find the "investors" and jail them.

In this case the 8 men arrested were certainly doing this to get enough money to pay for their daily dose of Lao Khao . The real culprits  are the"  investors " who are acting in complete disregard to the laws , Just as Hotchilli said , find them and jail them .

And still it goes on.

When i first lived in Thailand in the early '70s (yes, over 50 years ago!) there was a short-lived scandal concerning a Bangkok based army General who flew with his family in a commandeered helicopter to a national park, at weekends, where he supervised a gang of loggers felling selected hardwood trees for personal gain.
