On June 27, an honest motorbike taxi driver in Pattaya city turned in a foreigner's lost bag containing crucial documents and nearly 100,000 Baht in US dollars, reported Siam Rath.

The incident occurred at the motorcycle taxi stand at Soi 13 (White Lotus), Pattaya Central Road.

The driver, 62-year-old Chamnan Svansap, discovered the bag after dropping off a passenger and parking his bike. Noticing an unattended bag, he didn't open it, instead waiting for about ten minutes hoping its owner would return. When no one claimed it, Chamnan brought the bag to Pattaya City Police Station.

Not long after, a foreigner arrived at the station to report a lost bag, which turned out to be the one Chamnan had turned in.

The police promptly returned the bag to the foreigner. Chamnan noted that while the money wouldn't make him rich, it would undoubtedly be a significant loss to its owner, empathizing with the foreigner's predicament.

The correct thing to do, nothing less :-)

But strange in this country:

Feel every time locals do a natural act like this, it makes headline news.

How come ?? :-)

It counters the actions of some that do less natural and dishonest things.

Had a pal complaining of a Bolt driver insisting on more than the App said was the price...which he had rounded up by some baht anyhow. Perhaps they are becoming more like the taxis......

Good to see than not all lost in the Thai version of Sodom and Gomorrah.

Good to see an honest Pattaya  Motorbike Taxi driver,     these are regular findings are   usually  reserved for the  Bangkok  (car)  Taxi driver...

It's nice to hear of honesty here, though I will be much happier when the stories of theft and fraud don't outnumber such stories ten to one or more.

after a spate of bad press.

There are good people in Thailand and im lucky to have some as friends yes some of the best however there are also some of the worst with low to below zero humanity.

I can't find the emoji... but a facepalm is what I wanted. The bloke is carrying US dollars, thus appearing to represent the USA. Sigh.
