Man Arrested in Patong for Selling Alcohol on Major Buddhist Day

Patong – A man was arrested in Patong after he was found selling alcohol on a major Buddhist religious holiday.

The Patong Police told the Phuket Express that on Tuesday night (August 1st) that they arrested a man at a restaurant in Patong. (His name and the restaurant name were not given by police).

What a serious crime....selling alcohol on a Buddhist day. Only in Thailand, not in other Buddhistic countries...KiIling, robbing, stealing, sex offences and fightings are less worse than selling alcohol on such days

Khao Sarn Road was rammed last night (August 2nd) with beer openly on sale and being drunk.

But then Patong doesn't attract foreign non-Buddhists, like Khao Sarn does.... oh hang on!

I think it is not about the alcoholics.. It is just about the stupidness of this law...If people want to drink they do it and they bought already, It just makes no sense to ban alcohol sales on Buddhistic days as you can buy cigarettes and drugs freely. They will blurr the minds too, same as alcohol, and if there were no traffic accidents without alcohol I could understand, but people who drink drive nevertheless on these days too and accidents with alcohol are normal. So no sense for this ban

Nothing to do with "laws" of the country, it is a religious "law", being told no booze on religious days.

This country has many religions, but one tells others what they can or cannot do.

In my country, there are a zillion religions, but none control the populace freedom of what they can or cannot consume...????

If it was against the law to buy cannabis on a Thai holiday, UI definitely would not do that.

In Thailand it is illegal to sell alcohol on certain dates,

The law is very clear and everyone with half a brain knew that Tuesday (August 1st) was one of these days.

If you break the law you could be prosecuted.
