Is there a way to clean out her plumbing, so I can happily spurt away again in full quantities?

Few years ago found our hospital had given up on hot pots and installed induction boilers of Tefal as below.  Sill using and going strong with no cleaning required.

Looks a bit fat to me, get a newer slim line version, you'll be surprised at the immediate improvement.  It's called 'The Novel Rat Syndrome'.  Works for cars too.

Because it was the pipe that was becoming blocked, we used a bathroom drain cleaner and it is fully flowing again.

As for the OP's water pot, the rubber diaphragms and seals inside the lid perish over the years, resulting in pressure loss which gets worse the harder you pump it.

One of the best French brands, reliable. But depending on your area, if you get limescale depot at the bottom, a bit of white alchool vinegar overnight and it's like new. Excellent choice as Tefal never let's you down..or say rarely let's you down. Unlike some US or UK donkey-tonk brands.

I had the same problem.

 

I took it apart,like elephant boy I suffer from" 'satiable curiosity ", and enjoy playing withmy tool kit. Unfortunately I am usually hopelessly incompetent at putting things back together again; anyway the rubber diaphragm against which you pump, pressurising the inside of the vessel will have perished and split, leading to the inadequate dribble which you describe.

 

Technically one would describe it as "knackered".

 

I am sure that if you tried hard enough you could source, or even manufacture a new diaphragm - an old inner tube, a sharp knife and an hour or so of jolly bodging! But given that Sinthanee knock new ones out for a couple of hundred Baht, probably a good investment for a couple more years of happy spurting!
