World chess federation bars transgender women from competing in women's events

It's not the IQ, as in how "smart," but could be about the thinking process.

Male and Female brains appear to be wired differently, using slightly different processes to reach conclusions.  That may affect an individual's ability to think strategically.  If it's an evolved ability, the strategy required to care for children is different that the strategy required to bring down a saber-tooth giraffe.

Yes, we all know than men and women are different in many ways.

But it seems these days feminists insist that women are at least as capable as men.

Fine. So play with the men, and don't use "we are the week sex, we need special treatment".

They have weight divisions for that in some sports but not like swimming and such.

That doesn't make sense.

Are you saying they can play with the men, but only during the week they identify as such?

Many sports have separate men and women programs, if Chess has, so be it, keep it that way...........????

Maybe they should add IQ divisions.

Like: I am a champion, I won in the under 80 IQ division. ????

The "sexist" label is itself a disingenuous canard used by those who have trouble distinguishing perceived reality from actual, rockbed reality.  That there are differences between the sexes is something only a fool would attempt to deny.  So if one were to point out any of those differences then the "sexist" label is immediately slapped on you by these folks who have difficulty interpreting reality and you are forever a "bad" person.

Perhaps those innate differences between the sexes also extends to purely mental endeavours such as chess and that these differences were obvious enough to be recognised, thus resulting in the FIDE creating separate competitions based on gender.

Someone might want to pose that specific question to the FIDE as to their reasoning that caused them to settle on gender based competitions rather than a single competition for both male and female entrants.

The only reason the vociferous 'woke' mob has any success is because most people care about the opinions of others. The ancient Greek philosopher Diogenese taught a philosophy concerning the art of not giving a sh**. I definitely ascribe to this, the woke mob can lick me where the sun doesn't shine.

In other words, conformity.  Conformity keeps one out of trouble.  A lot of people don't have enough courage to stand up against criticism so they go along to get along.

Now that's rather harsh.  But I totally agree.

Now there's an idea that can be modified slightly to fit.  How about trans females can only compete against other trans females and record keeping such that you have records for biological women and separate records for biological males who pretend they're women.  Now everyone can have what they want and be happy!!!

Well, still need to sort out the locker room situation . . .

Also add in a group of "I claim to have changed backwards and forwards at least once"!

'member back in the 80's, when you were allowed to question?

Yes, I know, that's so last century!

That time Ringling Bros. claimed it had real unicorns

Dr. Gerald Toms, a vet with the U.S. Department of Agriculture, inspected the creatures and determined they were goats that had undergone a surgical procedure as kids, leaving them with a single horn.....

“The issue is still whether a humane, cultured society can justify what I call surgical mutilation purely for entertainment,” said John Kullberg, then-director of the ASCPA.....

“This year it’s a unicorn; next year someone may decide to play around with eye sockets and make a cyclops. Where do we stop?”

Prophetic words.

Even then, they were coming for your kids.

In case there is anyone so lacking in a sense of humour to take what I wrote seriously, let me reassure you that this was a joke.

Well almost. The serially woke ABC Australia state radio did actually ask this question of Australian chess master John Adams, who summed up the situation accurately.

"Trust the taxpayer funded national broadcaster to apply ideological Marxist frameworks to anything & everything in Australia!"

I play chess. At one time I reached reasonable ranking. I also follow chess intently. I'm not aware of any chess-playing men that would transpose to being chess-playing women.

But a couple of points.

Firstly; it is not IQ alone that makes one excel at chess. There is immense amounts of theory to wade through at the higher levels. A good memory is a must at a rating of over 2,000.

Secondly; vision. The ability to see something that your opponent does not.

Thirdly; the trend now-a-days is to win the end-game. Although this has always been true. Some of the very best players take a pawn advantage in the middle-game, to a winning end-game.

Lastly; mental stamina.

What I'm perturbed about - and nothing to do with chess - is that we are considering giving the 'trans' their own category. Once this lot get their foot into the sporting door, they will want more. If the sportsmen and women want to engage, let then compete in their own sex category.. The sex they were at birth; and always will be.

FIDE said it and its member federations increasingly have received recognition requests from players who identify as transgender . . .

The root problem here, and it extends not only to competitions such as sports and chess but to restrooms and all else is that trans genders think they have a right to be recognised as being a sex which they are not.  They demand that sane people, those who have a much firmer grasp of what actual reality is, surrender their true reality for the trans fictitious one.  They have zero right to demand that others recognise, accept and live in their phantasmal, delusive reality, let alone abandon true reality.

There is no such thing as trans rights for there is no basis in concrete reality for it.  Trans rights only exist in a clown world.

The comedian Eddie Issard has announced that he intends to contest a seat in the next UK GE. It was reported in one newspapers; and they referred to him as 'she', Has the world gone completely mad?

This 'trannie nonsense is taking hold in the schools. that is the real worry for most.

He/It/she etc  doesn't know and cannot make it's mind up if it is a he or a she or an it or a they but thinks(?) that it can make it's mind up  and have firm opinions on political issues!

What a pr!ck! if it/she/he/they whatever still has one and remembers how to use it as God intended!

I see no problem with them all the sports bodies creating three new categories;

1. Trans women

2. Trans men

3. Trans women/ex transmen/ex transwoman/don't  have a clue sex!

There shouldn't be any gender segregation in chess AT ALL.

If women haven't rated at the top YET, then that's something to aspire to.

Chess players are not athletes.

The problem with that, is that I/we/they are accepting that trans even exist.

Don't play dumb.

You know what I meant. They're competing but it's not a physical competition like sports such as swimming, track, etc.

Whether a person was born male or female should make NO DIFFERENCE.

To suggest that it does, is sexist garbage.

Of course there should, only on the basis of male and female. Males being far superior at the game should not be allowed to cheat against women just because they think they are one. No women has ever been in the top ranks of players, the greatest was Judit Polgar whose highest world ranking was only 7th. She may have beaten some top players but would have been crushed in a world championship against men.
