Citizens Await Digital Money, Hoping to Boost Economy

CHIANG MAI, Aug 24 (TNA) – Citizens are eagerly awaiting the implementation of the Pheu Thai Party’s policy’s 10,000 baht in digital money, hoping it will stimulate the economy and ease the financial burden on their families.

 

They are also urging the government to take care of the underprivileged, specifically those who struggle to make ends meet.

 

Chiang Mai’s residents shared their opinion on the 10,000 baht digital money policy aimed at economic stimulus, which was promised by the Pheu Thai Party.

Thats what my mrs said, why 4km from house? that limits us to 7/11 others can go to foodland tops and central etc, some have nowhere within 4km

4 km, what a joke. Some remote areas have a mom&pop shop at best in this range.

How will the system check distances and allow/disallow use?

How will the payment/transfer work, every noodle stall needs an electronic terminal with GPS??

The thing is a complete pipe-dream and by no means thought out well.

And exactly TOPS, Foodland, Central, 7/11 etc.etc. should NOT profit from this!

So my wife is "registered" for government purposes at her family home upcountry. But we've lived together in Bangkok for 10+ years...

 

So the upshot I'm hearing here is... she'd be entitled to get the money, but couldn't spend any of it in BKK, and would have to travel 600 kilometers north to do so?

Two hopes no hope and Bob Hope, it has been worked out they is not enough money, almost in the country to pay for it, as they will find this out next year, when as has been said, it will be paid, then it will we made a mistake and cannot pay for it.

I know you can say it will help the economy,but with us livening in a rural area it will be our local town, that is about 7 km, with two 7-11's and now a very expensive CJ, never mind we still have 3 shops selling mobile phones, if they allow this digital wallet to be used to buy things like this.

This PM has already admitted that he lied on his promises during the election campaign.

He has changed his mind to appease his political opponents and to win votes.

What makes anyone think that he will keep this promise?

10,000 baht is nearly one month salary for the average thai person.........How many millions will sign up to digital currency.

 

Its part of the worldwide agenda for every country to go cashless, without this sort of carrot , its going to be impossible for thai government to implement. 

 

They need like 90% of the population to sign up to digital currency

If the thai government really want to help people with this scheme .....they would offer both a cash, deposit into bank directly..........Why the need so bad for it in 'digital currency'.............its basically bribing millions of people to give up their future freedoms..........but they will be too dumb to see it

Most people will go out and blow it on a family party or short break, not sure how that will ease peoples burdens.

They cant answer any of those questions as PT has not explained how they intend to fund this pledge or any other details about the promise to provide this money

1st problem is getting online to register for the handout  how many times did we see systems crashing during Covid due to overloaded servers.  And, how will rural folk will be given access to register let alone reap any rewards.

 

The proposed system relies primarily on funding from existing or future taxes, stealing from Peter to pay Paul.  The logistics will be a nightmare and carry huge admin costs if it ever gets off the ground, which is doubtful.
