Makes you wonder if it's an insurance job, good time to replace the fake floating market with something else

And make a few baht on the side.

Probably started after someone dropped a bundle after eating some very, very hot Thai dish.

The owners won the lottery if they were insured....

Fire destroys popular Pattaya Floating Market

By Peter Roche

Pattaya’s Floating Market, a popular tourist magnet in Pattaya’s Sukhumvit Road, has been burnt to the ground by a fire that broke out last night. Nation Thailand reports that around 1 rai of the 19-rai attraction was totally destroyed in the blaze.

Chon Buri governor Thawatchai Srithong says firefighters managed to get the blaze under control at around 10pm. The governor inspected the scene of the blaze later last night, accompanied by Pattaya mayor, Poramet Ngamphichet.

Thawatchai says the fire spread rapidly, due to most of the buildings and structures at the market being made of wood. After the blaze had been extinguished, firefighters continued to spray water over the debris, to prevent fire catching hold again.

CHONBURI, Sept 8 (TNA) – A massive fire transformed Pattaya floating market into a sea of flames, with authorities struggling for over three hours to contain the inferno, resulting in an estimated damage of nearly 50 million baht.

Police are now intensively investigating the cause of the fire.

The blaze erupted at the heart of Pattaya’s renowned tourist attraction, situated on Sukhumvit Road in Sattahip district.

The fire rapidly spread across an area spanning over 20 rai (approximately 8 acres), creating an intense blaze with flames and thick smoke billowing up into the sky.

In response, fire trucks from Pattaya city and neighboring municipalities, totaling more than 30 vehicles, along with over 300 personnel, were deployed to battle the blaze.

Fire partially destroys Pattaya floating market

A forensic team is at the Talad Nam 4 Park in Pattaya today (Friday), to search for clues to the source of a fire on Thursday night which destroyed a section of this floating market, causing damage initially estimated at about 50 million baht.

One man suffered from smoke inhalation, but he has recovered after being treated at a hospital.

The fire reportedly started in the northern zone of the three hectare market in Nong Prue sub-district, Bang Lamung district. Fanned by strong winds, the flames quickly consumed most of the shops there, during which sporadic explosions were heard.

Over 20 fire trucks rushed to the scene and it took them about an hour to bring the fire under control and stop it spreading to other areas of the market.

Chon Buri Governor Thawatchai Srithong, who went to the scene, told the media there that the fire had spread quickly because most of the shops were made of wood and other inflammable materials.

I like the bit from the report that says "Over 20 fire trucks rushed to the scene"

From what people who live near there tell me the first Fire Truck took over 2 hours to arrive even though the fire station was just a little down the road.
