When you're old & lonely

Don't think there's much real love for old men anywhere. Your family will only hang around in the expectation of inheriting.

Even pets only 'love' you because you feed them.

Best to accept life how it is than imagine it will be better elsewhere.

Once in a while I gotta agree with a BM2 post .    There are "exceptions",  of course.   But from my years on earth ( which are many) ....... seems like the above is usually the case .

Children eventually go away to live their own life  (my hope would have been for my loving daughter to settle in Thailand ( where she was born ) ..... but i am proud she made a life on her own.

And then I have the GF .   She is "different" .   (laughing erupts on the forum) .   Well, compared to what i see with most couples .... i got a winner .  After many tries.

Does she really love me ?  ....... who knows.   But she treats me well and doesn't make those faces we see everywhere !    Works for me.   Still... old age is not so great .  Nobody in history has figured out how to turn that around.    Though a few billionaires might be getting close .

  • May I suggest a very easy receipe ? Just be friendly all the time and show a compassionate mind. Help where you can.   You will be surprized how much more you will get in return and sadness

When your old and lonely what? The subject title is incomplete.

If you are, should you return to your home country? There is not much 'love' from Thai women these days. They all have a 'get rich quick in 30 minutes' mentality. The times when there was a 'girlfriend experience' available are long over. I have been single for almost three years now, and I'm not confident to find anything besides golddiggers here anymore. So, Thailand as a place is easily replacable. I guess, others who are lonely here think alike.

Seems I am right, and probably why you ended up in LOS, eh..............????

Not sure what point you're trying to make Tranny old chap,

I have a wife I find attractive, kids that are well behaved, a nice home, decent pension, pets.

Never really wanted much else, happy enough listening to music, reading a book or watching TV when on my own.

Had a nice 25Km cycle ride and coffee with a pal this morning, great weather as usual.

What more does any elderly guy need in his retirement?

What more could any old chap expect?

Good idea!

Think I'll start taking a Typhoo tea bag around with me, can't take that weak Lipton's muck.

Like you said, I'll pay the same price for the hot water without the Lipton's tea bag.

They say Philippines is different as far as looking for a lady that cares and wants a true partner to care for and look after ,Filipino ladies are caring.

that's another topic though .

As long as you pay the full price, otherwise how do they make money

Some places the girls will be different .   But the guy hoping to attract one will still be the same  ????

It's weird to bring your own to a restaurant. If the tea is not good, why not order something else, and drink the tea at home.

So some expats pay to be loved and have someone care for them?

Are you for real?

I am also one of those people who takes his own food to an eating place. But I still pay the full price. It’s not about the money, I just like good food.

I'm old but never lonely I don't go out as much as I used to, I go down the beach a few times a week early morning have a walk around with my wife and she takes me out a couple of times a week to have a couple of beers and some snacks, everybody happy,

I've got lots of friends and family all Thai, I like it that way.

Do a bit of shopping at the weekends, Central and Makro, stop at Amazon for a coffee,

That's weird, most would agree on that, same as taking your own beer to a bar, or coffee and pastries to a coffee shop

Not the same at all, silly. You just lack imagination.
Have you ever been to an outdoor Moo krata? You pay an all in one price, but a lot of the ‘meat’ is of poor quality or simply unidentifiable. So I take my own and enjoy the experience much more. Tasty outdoor barbecue experience. I enjoy it so much that I leave a generous tip…. with sometimes the staff joking that I should come back very soon. But usually the staff exhibiting their gratitude animatedly. There is more to life than just in your imagination.

If this is ever me, please put to gun at the base of my skull and take me out, execution-style.

-Or....or have I wandered amiss of the true spirit of Are You OK-Day?

When you get older, you get more solitary. You have to build inner resiliency for that.

And have a plan to be less lonely. Pot bars are good for me. As a non -judgmental, non-sex creepy boomer, my knowledge of the classic rock era is actually a help, not a hinderance. They like Pink Floyd but never heard of Steely Dan? Let's YouTube that up. Traffic in an 18 minute jam is also popular.

We need to hear more about the bookstore cafe owner who survived through Covid instead of Mr Mope. Is he OK? Please ask on my behalf.

There are plenty of nice, older women here who are also lonely, and would love nothing more than to have some companionship, and perhaps a little bit of financial security, that women all over the world look for. If he does not have a companion, it is either because he is impossible to get along with, like a good friend of mine, who keeps on meeting women who like him, and then scares them away with his outbursts, or he is not making any effort.

Or, he does not want a companion, but wants something to complain about. End of story.

Even more weird, I've been to those Thai BBQs several times, wouldn't dream of taking my own food, next time you go ask them if they think it's weird you take your own food

Some people are delusional about their lives, some people accept reality and make the best of it.

Only YOU can choose to be happy or SAD, not other people.

Rubbish...'other people' have caused sadness when I was happy - others have made me happy when I wasn't.

That’s because you lack imagination. Baaaaaaa ????

I don’t need to ask them, I’ve already told you how they treat me.
I don’t need to delve into the minds of every individual. That would be weird.
I have a great time, eating a variety of foods, enjoying conversation with friends, eating quality meats with hand made marinades, alongside the items provided by the restaurant.
Not only that, but the staff are there when needed and actually clean up my mess.

Like a garden party with staff but all for a very reasonable price.
In fact some staff members actually prepare food for me to ensure an authentic taste.
So for this experience, it’s natural to tip generously. I don’t think of it as just paying for the food. I have an enjoyable time there and want to share my good feeling and am happy when I see a staff member jump for joy or express the gratitude profusely.
Spreading the love. The fact that I take my own quality products does not impact on the restaurant in any negative way. In fact the only effect is positive for everyone concerned.
So who cares what a sheeple thinks? I am happy, they are happy. But scuba thinks it’s weird ???? Hey ho…

That’s not the full story with ‘pets’. Animals can love you if you are kind to them, even without feeding them.
This isn’t just a theory. I’ve experienced this over many years. Even the animals I do feed are usually more interested in wallowing in the attention. Food is secondary, believe it or not.

Just tell them you only eat Halal.

???? ????

Though it’s really not an issue. It’s a win:win for everyone; my party, the restaurant owner and the staff.
It just blew scuba’s mind. Let’s hope he makes a full recovery.
