Police and Related Agencies Combat Crime in Chiang Mai

On September 17, 2023, Pol. Lt. Gen. Samran Nuanma, the Deputy Commissioner of the Royal Thai Police, led an operation to combat crime in Chiang Mai City, aligning with the government's tourism policy, reported Siam Rath.

 

The operation took place at the Three Kings Monument in the heart of the city, with the presence of Pol. Lt. Gen. Sukhon Prommai, the Commissioner of the Tourist Police, Pol. Lt. Col. Thakun Nimsombat, the Commissioner of the Tourist Police Division 2, and other government officials from various related agencies.

The objective of this operation was to prepare for an influx of tourists as per the government's tourism-focused policy. Additionally, it aimed to prevent and suppress criminal activities, including illegal activities by foreign guides and other offenses that might negatively impact the tourism industry.

A total of 247 personnel were involved in the operation, including 15 car inspection teams, 1 motorcycle inspection team, 1 mobile unit, 1 ATV unit, and 1 Segway unit, all dedicated to ensuring safety and security for both local residents and tourists in Chiang Mai City.

in other words, it was just a maneuver, otherwise we'd be wondering how many criminals were arrested

I'm sure that by now, seeing all this display of might, resolve and regalia, the criminals and would be criminals are shaking in their boots...
