A Thai woman was tragically killed when her motorbike collided with a minivan at an intersection in Pattaya on Monday morning, September 18th.

The accident was reported to Pattaya Police at 6:30 AM, prompting officers, rescue workers, and The Pattaya News to rush to the scene near Wat Bun Kanjanaram, Nongprue sub-district, Banglamung district, Chonburi province.

There, authorities found a red Honda Wave 110 motorbike driven by the deceased victim and a Toyota minivan. The former was significantly damaged, while the latter had damage on its bumper.

‘The motorbike’ collided ???

… those pesky inanimate object again, doing things they shouldn’t !!!

or… she pulled out without looking.

The degree of absence of self preservation here is astonishing…

Another tragic completely avoidable death.

Let's not forget the possible culpability of the minivan.

Very dangerous that intersection, i use it a few times a week, she could have gone when the light was green from Wat Bun, vehicles go full speed on Sukhumvit

Agreed… although the info in the linked article suggests otherwise, but let’s face it - no one expects the drive to be honest if he was driving like a loon.

They do have a tendency to drive fast and overtake a lot.

Who knows, minivans too are well known to be driven recklessly..... driver in a hurry and barely awake.

The man claimed that he was driving normally and as he was about to reach an intersection, the victim on her motorbike suddenly dashed in front of his car, resulting in a fatal collision.

What intersection?

“The man claimed that he was driving normally and as he was about to reach an intersection” …… Driving normally; something Thai minivan drivers are renowned for doing whilst asleep.

RIP Lady … very sad

Another triumph for Pattaya policing.  This carnage will continue daily till they get serious about road safety.  Every junction, particularly those controlled by traffic lights is abused because the invisible police NEVER check the banks of CCTV screens with safety in mind.

So many making comments and suggestions of what happened, including blaming the van driver. He claimed the motorcycle suddenly pulled in front of him - which sounds more than a reasonable scenario to me. Do motorcyclists ever look before maneuvering?

....................the latter had damage to its bumper.  Looking at the picture ( If it is the same minibus ) has  more than bumper damge.

"The degree of absence of self preservation here is astonishing… " Life is cheap in Thailand and the lack of any sense when driving a motorbike in Thailand is proof. What I find amazing is that most foreigners also adopt this very dangerous, careless, nonsensical behavior. Its as if they regress into a pariah outcast mentality when they get on their motorbike.

I just know the van driver was driving well below the speed limit and wasn't texting or taking on the phone.
