Brexit: UK could rejoin EU as an ‘associate member’

Why are so many people desperate to have the laws in their own country decided by foreigners based in another country and the public have no say in them whatsoever except to obey.

Because they are Globalists and Federalists. They are Anti-Democrats, they want as many layers of technocracy as possible between the voting citizen and the "selected" individuals making the decisions. The EU is a great example of such a system to the point that the politicians elected by the public have very few powers and the power lies with the selected technocrats several layers above them.

These people hate the nation state and the autonomy that such a system provides. They have no respect for Democracy, especially when "stupid" citizens vote the "wrong" way. Brexit was their worst nightmare, hence their attempts to overturn it by hook or by crook, and hence them still banging on about it 7 years after the vote.

They are normally huge fans of the WEF. Which tells you everything you need to know about them.

  • Are those the ones made in Poland? Despite the removal of the EU flag, I like them - they are pretty sturdy and have a good feel of EU quality.

"Hoist the drawbridge!"

The report is about a proposal for a redesign of the EU, in order to take into account the significant number of accession candidates -and also the differentiated attitude of current members towards further integration.

The third circle is not particularly targeted at UK. In particular, it can be conveniently used as waiting position for accession countries.

The full report can be accessed here:

Good idea. Makes it easier to repel borders.

Absolutely. Clear and enforcable borders are an essential element of sovereignty.

The UK and the US could learn a lot from the way Thailand respects and protects it's own culture.

Long live the nation state.

Back to the UK and BREXIT.

What happened to that promise to get control of the UK’s borders?

Nope 2072 anyone that was 18 in 2016 will be aged 74  and EU likes to link dates so 1972 when the UK joined the EU

and the majority of the 33,577,342 million people who voted in 2016 will have moved on to Paradise or a different realm

So you say that 33+BILLION (or is it trillion) people voted in 2016 EU referendum debacle.

That's what your figure and words say.

Jeez, give it a rest won't you.

You "won". Suck it up.

We all lost!

Indeed, as the EU are rather belatedly finding out; France has just sent soldiers, helicopters and drones to its border with Italy to prevent the surge of migrants from entering France. Georgia Meloni has just said that she will not allow Italy to become the refugee camp of Europe. Africa is invading Europe, and the EU remains completely passive to the invasion. You cling to that hope. It's never going to happen.

Despite some tactical polling now showing support for rejoining, the people of the UK would never accept the new EU terms for rejoining once those terms were made clear before any referendum.

We'll never rejoin.

Never say never.

I think the best reply to the EU would be "Don't call us, we'll call you."

Thwarted by the left and opportunist immigration lawyers who are happy to pay millions per day to house people, mainly single males, arriving on dinghies. Let alone the strain on health and other services.

Your mates in France don't seem to be doing much to stop that trade from flourishing....and yes, the Conservatives have absolutely failed to get things moving in that regard. But the reality, as you know, is the EU will enforce migrant quotas in return for considering taking anyone back. Keir knows that as well but is trying to appease both sides and won't admit it.

And...let's recall Angela Merkel inviting all and sundry to come to Europe. She and the WEF will be be delighted.

The UK Government having to comply with UK law.

Utterly shocking.

What, not even the millions that enter a country illegally, having destroyed any form of identification, and consequently concealing any information about themselves, including any possible terrorist links, or criminal record  ….. the level of delusion that you have achieved is quite breathtaking

Presumably an associate membership will have less control or power than full membership.

Millions have entered the UK illegally?

Are you exaggerating?

It always seemed that the UK was some kind of "associate" member anyway. There were few such offers from the EU in 2016 - all of their conditions meant staying in really.

That was excluded by the red lines set by UK

You didn't address any of the other points except the opportunist lawyers looking to bend the rules at every turn. Interesting.

Read what I said agin, but slowly this time, so that you can understand; I said “not even the millions that have entered A country illegally” … how did you manage to interpret that as saying entered the UK (rhetorical)

Sorry you feel short changed.

I don’t have any mates in France who are in anyway commented to immigration policies or diplomatic relations with the UK.

I spent most of the summer dealing with the NHS, almost every single medical professional I came across was a foreigner, as were most of the support staff.

The cost of providing accommodation to asylum claimants is directly related to the Government’s failure to clear asylum seekers and deport bogus asylum seekers (nobody is objecting to bogus asylum seekers being deported - the Government need to get on with it).

Merkel dealt with Putin pushing refugees towards EU borders.

As a general note, if you go off on another of your rants, I don’t owe you a response to all your ill informed nonsense.

Go to the top of the thread, you’ll find a clue to the country under discussion.
