Entertainment venue operators in Pattaya are generally pleased with the Prime Minister’s plan to extend the closing hours to 1 AM to boost the economy in tourist hotspot areas, which will likely include Pattaya.

The Minister of the Interior Anutin Charnvirakul recently urged relevant officials to identify suitable areas for the extension of closing hours for entertainment venues to 1 AM in general, in response to Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin’s directive aimed at boosting the economy.

TPN notes that some areas in entertainment zones already have later closing times but this proposal would allow venues outside of these zones, like in East Pattaya or Jomtien, to legally stay open until 1 AM.

Isn't it  3am in the nightlife areas already? Certainly 2am....

Probably make late time cheaper barfines rarer if the bars can stay open later... it's getting more difficult/expensive already with a requirement to buy multiple LDs.

Be fair not much point in later, the only women still free at 1 am are those that are either built like a tank, have the face of a horse or have already been filled up once and looking for a 2nd ceiling to study !

12pm to 1am is actually 13 hours. And no, there was never a 12pm noon closing time ????????

1am is actually an earlier closing time. Everything closes around 2am - 3am every night.

Thai Economics

Have possibly 5 people in your Bar for an extra Hour, that are already Bladdered, and will possibly drink only 1 or 2 more drinks more in that Hour

Extra Staffing Costs, Run Lighting, Music, Refrigerators, Air Con Etc

Extra " Profit " = Zero

Am I to understand from this article that the Nationwide closing time for bars etc is midnight? Exceptions being in some tourist hot spots?

This is a surprise to me as some Thai bars in Khon Kaen (hardly a tourist hot spot!) are open and thumping out music until 3 AM. They have been since re-opening after covid. I am aware of some Thai bars open til past 8 AM but with the volume reduced.

This is a perfect example of a politician promising the world and delivering nothing....

The hours that a business operates should have nothing at all to do with government. Control control control - which does nothing but open the door to 'incentives' being paid to turn a blind eye.

It isn't compulsory.

It may well be the way they think.... never close the doors on business...... it might get fruitful with a bell ringer! Had an experience staggering homeward quite late only recently.... fancied a massage and a place was about to close accommodated me, staying open with the manager and one lady well past closing just for a few hundred baht!
