Line phone app unreliable

Featured Replies

Apparently the Line app is changing it's conditions from november this year. Looks like the Chinese could have bought it up or god knows who. Various functions will be disactivated with the current version. Only those who use the new version from november will benefit with some of the functions. But to get the new version, certain obvious privacy/safety parameters of the account need to be opened to enable following of the account by obviously commercial or other unplesant entitie.  Their help center online seems a disaster as they answer just about any rubbish excuse as they do not seem to have expertise or maybe to lazy to decently handle an issue. To make this short, perhaps using another web phone app or wassup, could become the norm in the future due to such a change of policy by the Line app.

Very vague rant.

You'll understand with time when the issues start.

I also saw the changes announced. Also  had issues through  Line app with unwanted spams and strangers adding me as "friend" since a few months.

When I contacted their assistance via the App they gave me a ridiculous answer, hinting it was my fault. Usery may have not read the recent update news on the changments announced shortly.

Unfortunately Line is widely used here but I make it a point to ask for an alternative method of free call. Viber is good or even Facebook.

And not a Bangkok issue.

A global issue, that does apply to a large city like Bangkok with many users....far more then a remote area in Isaan where nobody has heard about Line.

Don't like to use Line. Far to many scams and safety loopholes. Awful client assistance when there are tech problems.

LINE merged with Yahoo Japan, an entity totally separate from Yahoo. Yahoo Japan was always far more valuable than Yahoo.

I have had an email address with Yahoo Japan for around 20 years. They have been superb. Their website and their app are top of the game. I have no fears about the changes to LINE.

It is your fault, you have chosen the wrong settings

Ignorant BS

Millions of Thais have LINE in every corner of the country.

And the topic is not a local but a technical topic.

One more for the list.

Perhaps you could either go into a bit more detail about the proposed changes and why they bother you, or, even better, post a link to this article you've read so we can all make our own conclusions?

If you have Line go to Home/ Settings(cog wheel) and then under app info at the bottom Announcements. On mine the date of a revision to the Privacy policy was Sep 11 and the name change due to the merger Sep 28th.

None of these suggest any noticeable changes (that I can see) to the use of the app.

@SingAPorn ownership hasn't changed so perhaps you can be specific with some of the things you mention as I don't see it? Specifically which version no..........?

Support is ending for LINE versions earlier than 11.15.0

Support for versions earlier than 11.15.0 of the LINE app will end on November 1, 2023. After support has ended, you will no longer be able to use these versions of LINE. Please check the version of Android OS you're using.

If so I have been on a version beginning with 13 for a while.........
