That’s probably true, but it’s up to Israel to be the better man and find another solution that avoids killing, innocent Gazan civilians.  I say, take the high moral ground Israel and stop, reacting with violence to provocation.

No, its up to Israel to defend its citizens from terror attacks and daily war crimes and you may want to remind Hamas about how many Palestinians they kill daily with the rockets that land back in Gaza

Me too, I just buy the large expensive organic ones.

How did I deflect? By pointing out, again, that your choice of information source is flawed?

You deflected from my reply about how Al Jazeera is “generally trustworthy” and pointing out unspecified earlier comments of mine.

Yawn. If you think Al Jazeera is not biased in it's coverage, analysis and commentary - guess you live in bizarro world.

Should the Israeli government care more about Palestinian lives than the Palestinians' own government?

The Israeli Government should care about ALL lives if they want to take the moral high ground.

Violence begets Violence.  The key to winning this long term is winning the hearts and minds of the Palestinian people, if not then generation after generation of Palestinians will hate Israelis.

You have to divide Al Jazeera into 2 halves. Its broadcasting within the Arab Middle East is both antisemitic and biased.  Ut’s broadcasting worldwide is as biased and antisemitic as they think they can get away with.  You’re probably surprised I share your view to a some extent.

Indeed so Hamas should stop the rockets and terror attacks. Perhaps they could at least start with changing their charter calls that calls for the elimination of a race of people? Would be a good start right?

let’s not forget that Hamas is a terrorist organisation.

And let’s remember that the Gazan citizens are mostly innocent civilians.

Somebody has to start with an approach that stops the violence, clearly it’s not going to be Hamas, who else can it be, but Israel?

The governing body of 1930/40's Germany were Nazi, the majority of civilians were not, what happened to end the German war aggression and dispense of the Nazi's regarding civilians. .........?

There’s only one way to defeat Hamas and that is to turn the Palestinian people against them. Israel is playing into their hands. Let’s be a realistic, Hamas is not going to stop on their own.

You are cherry picking Brian. Wikipedia says 15-40k, let’s say something in the middle, 27,500

Very difficult to turn the people away when they offer $10,000 for each Israeli kidnapped and an apartment and get a huge amount of funding from Iran.

What makes you think I went to Wiki and cherry picked?

"They are a mini-army," said a source close to Hamas in the Gaza Strip, who declined to be named due to the sensitivity of the matter. He said the group had a military academy training a range of specialisations including cyber security, and boasts a naval commando unit among its 40,000-strong military wing.

Let's not forget that Hamas is also a major political party, a social welfare network and other stuff. Or maybe that wasn't on AJ?

There you go again about how Israel should care more about Gazans then their own government.....

What about the Hamas government. Don't see you complaining that much about that. After all, they didn't do anything to protect their civilians, called on them to remain and face deadly attack, tried to block them from evacuating, launch rockets from residential areas and whatnot. Somehow, in your odd world, they are apparently less responsible for the welfare and well being of Palestinian civilians. Go figure....

How about the Palestinians trying to win the hearts and minds of Israelis? Do you seriously expect Israelis to embrace Palestinians after 7/10? How realistic is that? Don't think it's human nature to forgive and forget, call bygones that quick. For some reason you seem to hold Israel to unrealistic standards.

I'm acquainted with both editions of AJ, my comments stand.

I

I have already made my opinions on Hamas clear, I’ll repeat them again for you, I condemn them as terrorist and their actions as appalling.

And yes, I do expect Israel to take some action that can lead to a future peace, it’s very clear, it’s not going to come from Hamas.

I do hold Israel to high standards, they were given Palestine by my country and they need to respond a little bit better than they are doing now.

If you think that there's something Israel can realistically do to get Palestinians to shift their support (to whom?) within a reasonable time frame, you're deluded. I think that, by now, it is up to the Palestinian people to realize that something is wrong with Hamas's paradigm.

There's this tendency, more so among Western 'pro-Palestinian' supporters to treat the Palestinians as if they are passive, clueless children who require everything handed to then. I do not agree with this condescending point of view. People who aspire for independence, sovereignty and so on should be able to take charge of their affairs.
