Chiang Mai AQI Is Already Over 100

And it is only Dec. 1.  I know this topic has been beaten to death but nothing happens.. Tourists have to be ignorant of this polluted air to come here at all.  Between the changes in the tax situation and the never ending air pollution that seems to get worse each year, I am fed up.

Has nothing to do with the burning and it is currently only 50-60 average, which is almost the same anywhere in Thailand.

If you get a little outside the city you'll see everyone burning leaves, fields and everything else. It's a clown shown with authorities, no one cares. The government just banned lanterns over Loi Krathong this year, punishable by large fines and jail time yet I saw about 1000 of them flying over my house last week. Clown show. What else can be said?

Get out of the city and look at what people are doing. Burning everywhere. Even get up on a hill and look into the outer regions of the city. Notice all the smoke billowing up from various locations? it adds up eventually.

The air quality levels in the CM region aren't so bad right now... just at the lower end of the 'unhealthy for sensitive groups range" colored orange (100+ AQI) ...but were a lot worse and in the red / unhealthy range (150+ AQI) last night and earlier today.

Could see smoke rising  from 3 locations in Nam Phrae this morning, not bad for the 1st December

More likely people burning anything and everything that is probably slowly killing more people than any virus ever did.

CM trying hard to bring a swift end to high season, just as tourism was putting some money in people's pockets. Peak CM/Thailand if you ask me.

Well, yesterday morning 123 pm.

Around our house burning rice fields.

If this is going to continue we will fly out very early this season. 😳

“The same procedure as last year, Miss Sophie?”       “The same procedure as every year, James.”

It's bad everywhere.  Just of the negatives about living in Thailand.  Like traffic accidents, it's not to going to improve any time soon.

Hmm......wife and I were planning a trip up to CM/CR around mid-December.  What's it like around Chiang Rai?  Just as bad?
