A stressed expatriate of France nationality threatened to harm himself with a knife reportedly following financial problems. However, the intense situation was peacefully resolved with the help of the Sattahip police.

On December 28th, 2023, at 4:30 PM, officers from the Sattahip Police Station, along with emergency responders, rushed to a residence in the Bang Saray sub-district, Sattahip district, Chonburi province, after receiving a report of a 51-year-old French man (name withheld), threatening himself with a sharp object. Upon arrival, police found the man in a state of agitation, walking topless with the long knife pointed at his chest and demanding officers stay away.

For over two hours, Sattahip officers engaged in patient negotiations with the man, eventually convincing him to lower his weapon and allow his wife and son to speak to him. The family’s emotional pleas, combined with the officers’ calm demeanor, contributed to the man’s gradual de-escalation. Once deemed safe, Sattahip police escorted him back to his home and placed him under the care of his family.

I am no fan of Thai police, but in this type of stand-off situation they often seem to show great patience and an ability to bring things to a peaceful conclusion.

Hopefully, the Frenchman will get through his bad times (we've all had them - maybe not so extreme) and won't end up in a police cell, or worse.

They do don't they. I often feel they are pussy-footing around and wasting a lot of time and better use could be made of their services. But they often achieve a good end result.

What effing income tax?

You don't need to get suicidal until January 2025 when the RD sends you their bill.

Like being a traffic cop maybe?

In Australia he'd be shot dead by the cops, it's a disgusting situation there now. As already pointed out here, Thai police have excellent skills at decelerating these situations with distressed members of the public.

This manchild got just what he wanted... attention.

If he was ignored he either would have committed seppuku or hit the bong again.

To paraphrase Frank Sinatra " whatever gets you through the night - the bible or the bottle."

Touched a nerve on this fragile one.. triggered!

How did you link the Holocaust to a bad croissant from 7-Eleven? Might be a joke in there?

If you participate in most of these forums on AseanNow, you cannot take it seriously, impossible to get past poor journalism and grumpy old men, mostly satire and the occasional good piss-take!

To your comments regarding stupid comment and childish reasoning, I can only suspect you have been one of these poor souls, if you have, I seriously hope you get hope (not joking), if not, then move aside and continue crying yourself to sleep!

You again? If you want to hang with the jokers, the sarcastic and the ignorant there is a perfect website for you. Teekboor.com. You will be more than welcome there. Joined 2023? Are you a leftover detritus from a blog in which you were not welcome?

The difference on AN is that it is a bit more civile than a few of the other websites. J-_-ks like you are quickly recognized here, and in life. So, go cli.b a tree and spread your misery to bananas. I suspect you have a poor loathsome soul with no sustenance, so do like a ghost and booooo
