My New Year Resolution

Featured Replies

  • Popular Post

Way back in 1983, I resolved to give up smoking. And did.

In 2021, I decided to get fit. My resting pulse rate is now mid-fifties.

In 2022, I resolved to lose weight. I went from 93 kg to 78 kg. I have backslid slightly, to 81 kg.

In 2023, my NY resolution has been to stop drinking. I had a glass of red wine last February, nothing since.

For 2024. I have decided to stop responding to posters who lack good manners. No return fire, they just go straight onto my ignore list, where they can rail fruitlessly.

What is your New Year resolution, and how successful are you at sticking to them?

Happy New Year.

good idea about the ignore list. that's your best resolution ever.

it's good to be sick and tired of clowns to the left of you and jokers to the right.

I simply cannot be bothered with them anymore, life is too short.

How many frogs did you save this year?

Yes, I agree. But I have resolved not to answer any of them.

I don't feel that we have enough warm bodies left still posting in this little internet backwater to ignore anyone.

Also: after porn, laughing at idiots is why the internet was invented.

I'm on a 30 day marijuana-fast. I'm hoping to dodge the increased clarity-bullet. Clarity -never exactly a pretty picture.

Fetching my coat :whistling:

Good one, what are you watching?

I have downloaded Reacher Season 2 from YouTube, IMO it is bootleg due to the quality, or lack of it.

I ignore Facebook and Twitter completely, as I don't think they add anything to my life. As far as I am concerned, Facebook is for narcissists, and Twitter is for twits.

IMO ASEAN resources such as Sheryl, Crossy and UbonJoe ( RIP ) add value. CharlieH adds a dose of common sense.

The only thing pot does for me is affect my balance, and act as a sedative. I don't get any high from it at all, in either CBD or THC forms.

There are plenty of good interest groups on Facebook, you don't need to have friends or post your selfies to participate.

I got heaps of great advice about cycling long distances, kayaking and sailing.

Fair enough. I am not interested in having my personal data and preferences harvested for sale to the highest bidder.

In general, I agree with you, but don't be naive. Just create fake accounts and don't post or reveal anything.

You can find useful, informative, amusing pages on both facebook and Twitter. I have several I follow daily and others I glance at when I have time. Some links I post here I first learned about from a guru on Twitter.

I intend to steer well clear of any, and I mean ANY discussions about this, so called, new tax ruling.

You may be right. However, I think enough of my time is spent on ASEAN without adding other platforms.

Good thinking, why get stressed over something until it actually happens to us?

Don't worry, be happy, and relax.

If I want to drink, then I do that.

If I want ice-cream, then I eat it.

No stress, no restricting resolutions.

But then, I never had any excessive tendencies, so I don't have to stop myself from doing this or that.

I tried that when last in the UK as I wanted to check out prospective renters........

I made one search of a name and they blocked me......

Mine works fine. I use a real email address, but an alternate of the sort you can create with most email providers. And then I filter out all junk mail coming from facebook and never see it. I have only one facebook "friend," an old neighborhood friend who recognizes my fake name.

Twitter doesn't send out out junk mail, so that's cool.

I think I will resolve not to reply to a post unless I can add anything to the body of knowledge and "Never argue with an idiot. They will drag you down to their level and beat you with experience." ― Mark Twain
