Thanks for the grammar corrections, I stand corrected.. and yes, too many posters are giving confused emojis

when there's nothing to be confused about so I'm thinking here, are they really that hard on

understanding a simple posts or just trying to annoy and anger other posters?...

No... they're just showing their disagreement with whatever it is you have written, or they are trolling you.

In the past we had a +1 or a -1 which worked perfectly well, if someone didn't agree with post they just put a -1 which was fine.

Now we have the Sad, Confused, and Laughing emoticons which people use to show they disagree...

There is also the issue of posters going on a childish personal vendetta and posting one of those negative emoticons against every post a forum member makes - the issue there is anonymity, it was better when we could see who posted the responses (emoticons) so we can just ignore the repeated trolls...

  • I think you mean members "who are intellectually challenged" not "members who's" which is a contraction of "members who is intellectually challenged".

... confusing.

But it would be nice if posters proof read what they have typed before hitting Submit.

There we go, someone confused by my first sentence. Which bit was confusing please?

Not my emoji but I'd guess that they're reacting to the irony of "proof read", instead of "proofread"!

So it should have been 'Who're"..............but that sounds like a Northern street girl . 555

"...that sounds like a Northern street girl...".

They have them in your neck of the woods also.

As opposed to starting a thread to show how much smarter one is compared to rest of the knuckle draggers,  The OP deserves all he has received on this one

You should have either gone with a period after draggers, or not capitalized the t in the following the.

...and you should have placed inverted commas around "t" and your last "the"!

the challenge of apprehending the correlation between the subject and the comments too big

How does one "apprehend" a correlation?

The problem with the 2 emojis is that it's usually unclear what they mean in any particular case: Does it mean he/she is confused/sad at the content of my message? or at the fact that I said it? Or is it a generalized feeling of sadness & resignation at the state of the world?

It would be much more useful to everyone if the 2 emojis were replaced with signs for "I don't agree' & 'I can't understand a word of what you just said'.

Nah.

Better not to offer any means for these idiots to express themselves.

Just by definition, there is nothing that these people can contribute to the site. (Hopefully, do will not pro-create).

It's a policy issue, I can see who's posting them where and when and remove them individually but that's all.

Hummmm.

How about simply changing the policy....

I agree in part .....  as I'm only intellectually challenged after 5.00pm or 6 Chang and G&T's ... whichever precedes first.

Read what admin has said on this subject, in an earlier post.

Let's nitpick spelling and grammar to show how smart we are.

The Romans had a saying, "Si tacuisses, philosophus mansisses".

Loosely translated, it means: "If you had kept your mouth shut, we might have thought you were clever".

I cannot find any post here from an 'Admin'.

But whatever this individual has said, it could not be that "It is impossible to change the policy'.....

Ah, where is Anthony Robbins when we need him, and his quotes:

such as: "I like it when you say that something is impossible, and you do it anyway."

In UK it can be either, or even hyphenated. I asked Susie Dent!!!!   555

Whom amongst us does not enjoy the intellectual challenge of making sense out of what we read around here?

Sorry, same poster, same topic, different thread, he started two discussions on the same subject. The subject has been frequently discussed and also put to the vote, 50/50, emojis or not. I don't make policy and there is no desire to change it, even if some individuals want it changed. Can please some of the people......you know.

I use the confuse icon when mentally challenged members ask confusing questions or make confusing remarks.

And then there of course all the people who just repeat what they saw somewhere but they didn't understand it.

Last but not least, if I want to communicate with intellectuals, then I wouldn't post in this forum. So, if you think that you are so much smarter than all the others, then maybe ask yourself why you post in a forum with all those people who are not as smart as you. Maybe you should try a Mensa member forum or something like that. But maybe they won't let you in.

It was, originally, the policy until the identifying of who placed emojis was removed...can't see that decision being reversed.

Why do the emojis not working for me?

It's a lefty conspiracy.

No,  definitely not 11.00am ...  maybe 3.00pm at the earliest.

Yes, but they were known to be pretentious so-and-sos.

I bet that a second after the wise roman who coined the phrase said it, he got the equivalent of confused emoji.

So what should I click if the message has 3 sentences and I understand one of them and the other two are confusing? ;)

Perfect.

I must just be lucky, I never get "Confused" or "Sad" emojis!

EDIT:  Or maybe I just don't see them because they mean 5/8ths of bugger all!

I like Plato's quote: 'Wise men speak because they have something to say; Fools because they have to say something.'
