Well ...  I've bought a hundred items or more in 20+ years of being here ..

In the last 3 months alone ...   and over the last 10-20years I have thrown out many items that stopped working ...

Sports T-shirt ...  stitches break out and holes appear -   2 months

Rubber sandals ...   cracked and broken sole -  3 months

Hot water kettle ...   started leaking after 3 months. -  3 months

Shorts, t-shirt and other ...  after 3-5 months have holes from stitches missing.

USB led lights ...    I bought 10 ...  I have 3 actually full working -   3 months

16" fan ...   I bought 2 of these from Big C .... after 6 months ,  one motor burned out, the other is still working .

Has anyone else had the same  ??????????

The Crap here last 6-12 months maximum  ....   it's chinese junk.

I'd suggest brand shopping... For sandals I only use Teva & for flip flops I buy Reef....Fans seem to go at least 2 years = Hatari....Shirts can be a crap shoot.....I have had success with cotton shirts I've ordered from Lazada.... I'm 194cm @ 95kilos, so not fat but have to buy one to make sure of it's quality+ make sure doesn't billow out around the stomach area + I usually tuck t-shirts in.....I wear 3/4 length pants & found some good quality on Lazada....Once I test drive a pair, and they are good I'll order extras = I still have some reserve in the shipping packs.....

Light bulbs I get at the local electrical/lighting store for about half the Big C price....

One thing of favor here is the ability to find repair shops.....Our Microwave quit last week, we found a shop = fixed in 3 hours for 380B - so there are shops that can fix your fan and other appliances (versus the throw away societies of the west).....

It sounds like you are accident-prone in the laundry dept.. As an example, I have many T shirts some dating back to the 20th century. Some don't all fit anymore 😁 but none have fallen apart.

Maybe you should buy quality things and not Chinese junk.

I don't have the problems which you describe because I don't buy junk.

Yes, most budget end tat is from China and will quickly fall to bits. A lot of stuff I’ve ordered from Lazada has failed, even going lazmall—the time-limited review system artificially pumps up ratings. Electrical items can also have lifespan shortened by dodgy power supplies… Thai cities frequently see brownouts and over-voltage which can both fry smaller motors and circuitry. Don’t be tempted to go cheap here. If I need something worthwhile, I’ll physically head to the likes of Homepro and go brand as you know what you’re getting. For sportswear, Decathlon has good quality attire for very decent prices, good cust service, and they do not muck around with returns.

You are lucky. The same thing has happened to me....but my wife refuses to throw anything away, ever. So we still own all this broken stuff. Our house looks like tinkers live there.

You should be more particular about the brands and quality you purchase. Chinese junk is available everywhere, not ONLY in Thailand.

Just an example. At home we use about 5 Hatari fans that are more than 10 years old. Working perfectly. Only on one I replaced the capacitor & the thermal fuse that cost only 20 0r 30 Baht max.

Shorts, t-shirts I have that are more than 2 years old, still good. The washing detergent, and spinning effects clothes.

Just try to be more 'choosy' when buying stuff in the future.

Don't know about Hatari fans. for me they last no time at all, of the 8 Hatari fans  only 1 still works, some failed within a year. even with replacement motors. as for capacitor had no end of them..  replaced with Sharp they appear much stronger and so far lasting a lot longer [have 5 the oldest is 6 years old]

as a PS  Hatari fans 2 x wall fans, fell to bits and fell off wall, all the others were 18" stand fans one costing almost 3,000 baht electronic thing..   So far the 2 oldest Sharp 1 x Wall Fan + 1x 18" stand fan are still like new, ALL are used every day hate Air Con....

If interested have in one of the spare bedrooms 4 x non working Hatari fans
