Pattaya Police Arrest Two Chinese Nationals for Illegal Possession of Firearms

Pattaya —Pattaya police arrested two Chinese nationals for illegal possession of firearms on February 21st, 2024.

The move was to combat crimes affecting Pattaya’s tourism image and economy, Pattaya Police Chief Pol. Col. Navin Teerawit stated during a press conference.

 

Acting on intelligence reports, authorities conducted an investigation, leading them to a homestay in Soi Na Jomtien 22, Sattahip. Police then searched the house and arrested Mr. Cai Qingqjng (28) and Mr. Lei Chen (28), both Chinese nationals. During the operation, officers seized a 9mm pistol, ammunition magazines, handcuffs, and a shoulder bag.

The idea of having Chinese police operating in Thailand was quashed a year or so ago. Apparently the local police felt it would demean them!

There's a big difference between that intended officially sanctioned policy between the two countries' police forces that went tits up and the Chinese authorities unilaterally operating surreptitiously here.
