Popular Post Bobthegimp
A couple of hours ago I was walking past the cut through at the Avenue Mall when I saw an older gentleman leaning against the wall, gasping for breath. His feet were swollen and a hell of a mess, beside them were sandals several sizes too small. Turns out that he had been drugged and robbed last night and woke up in a vacant field behind The Avenue condos. His passport, wallet, phone and shoes were gone, yet the robber had left money in the palm of his hand. The gentleman was disoriented and deeply ashamed, thinking that he'd had too much to drink on the first night of his trip. To me, this obviously wasn't the case as he had no smell of alcohol on him and none of the other signs of a hangover. His feet were absolutely destroyed. I walked him over to Starbucks and offered him 100 baht to buy a coffee, but he refused as he had the money the robber had left in his hand. I then went to the DIY store and bought a pair of soft slippers and socks for his damaged feet. Upon my return to Starbucks it was a relief to see him in the care of the ladies who work there. They were tending the wounds on his feet in an expert manner and helping the gentleman to re orient himself. We talked for a few minutes and I explained that he was drugged, not drunk, to which he agreed. He still couldn't remember which hotel he was staying in but he did know a girl in a nearby bar who could help him fill in the details. I left him in the care of the Starbucks lady, who refused my rather offensive offer of a tip (when will I ever learn?) so I sent an email to head office about her and will follow up to see that she is commended for taking such good care of a customer. If anyone who reads this post knows the English gentleman please let us know how he's doing. I returned to Starbucks at 1400 to walk him over to the bar where his lady friend works but he was nowhere to be seen and the bar hadn't opened yet. The last bar he drank at employs both real and fake women, take from that what you will. And be sure to keep an eye on your drinks. 4 1 2 6

Ladyboys, they were probably the culprits if true. Why would anyone in their right mind come anywhere near those things? 4 3 3 1 4

Why would you think he made up such a story ??? People getting 'roofied' in Thailand is a story as old as tourism. I know of people this has happened two, one of them a couple of decades ago, he disappeared for a couple of days and his local account ATM had be drained - he doesn't remember anything of the weekend at all and hospital later confirmed some 'nasty stuff' in his system (this was about 20 years ago though). About 5 years ago I was drinking with a close friend... at bar closure time we stopped off on one of those street bars along a Sukhumvit side soi.... We were chatting away and I had my beer on the 'bar type thingy' beside me... my attention was drawn to my friend for a short while, before I reached around and took my drink, when taking a sip I tasted this acrid artificial flavour in the beer and my immediate reaction was to spit the beer out on the floor.... I immediately suspected something untoward... I told me friend not to drink any more, we paid the bill and left.... I have no proof, but I suspect something was placed in my drink but it didn't have enough time to settle and mix in etc... 2 2 3

Happened to an elderly friend who remained conscious but in a right state. These fuxxers could kill someone very readily administering strong drugs to people already drugged up on alcohol. I know many argue against it but I prefer to have my passport, licences etc in a room safe than on my person... only need money (and maybe a passport copy) to go out on the razz. Kudos to the OP for helping the guy......and do we really need morons arguing over the price of coffee? Edited March 1 by jacko45k 6 2

Popular Post Bobthegimp
I sent an email to Starbucks head office commending the ladies who tended the gentleman's injured feet. It appears that they will get some form of recognition from head office via the district manager. The ladies behaved in typical (in my experience) Thai manner: kindness and caring. 7 3
