National police chief refutes claim of foul play in Surachate Hakparn case

Pol Gen Torsak Sukvimol, the national police chief, maintains that one of his deputies, Pol Gen Surachate Hakparn, is not the victim of persecution or of foul play over the issuance of a summons for him to report to Thung Song Hong police station, to acknowledge money laundering charges related to the BNKMaster online gambling website.

He said that the enquiry officers are simply acting in accordance with the evidence already gathered, adding that this is the first summons issued for Surachate to report to them on Thursday.

He said it is up to Surachate whether he will report. If he does not, a second summons will be issued and, if he fails to report again, then an arrest warrant will be issued.

The national police chief insists that the enquiry officers are authorised to issue the summonses, because the case under their jurisdiction is separate from the one currently pending with the National Anti-Corruption Commission.

Regarding the duplicate of the first summons sent to the national police chief, Pol Gen Torsak said it is now with the legal affairs department of the Royal Thai Police.

Also an arrest warrant can only be issued by a court. "Will be issued" is not up to the chief of police. They can request a warrant. They can't issue them.

Big Joke’s police career on the brink as police chief threatens to suspend the high profile top cop from job
by James Morris and Son Nguyen

Deputy Police Chief General Surachate Hakparn is scheduled to give a high-profile press conference in Bangkok on Tuesday with his legal team. It comes following a police summons to his home on Sunday, 17th March 2024 (inset right), by two police vehicles. On Monday, Police Chief General Torsak Sukwimol raised the charges to threaten Big Joke’s suspension.

BIG JOKE ON THE BRINK AS TOP COP FACES SUSPENSION | Deputy Police Chief General Surachate Hakparn, aka ‘Big Joke,’ fights a potential career-ending crisis as Police Chief General Torsak threatens suspension amid an online gambling network probe.Summoned on Sunday by police in Bangkok, General Surachate’s next move comes amid white-hot tensions at the top of the force. A legal battle looms as he continues to protest his innocence. The top cop’s future is in peril.

Deputy National Police Chief General Surachate Hakparn or ‘Big Joke’ is fighting for his career this week. It comes as Police Chief General Torsak Sukwimol has underlined his support for an investigation linked with gambling network BNK Master which has implicated the top police officer on money laundering charges.

On Sunday, March 17th as General Surachate was in Chiang Mai running security for Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin and ex-Premier Thaksin Shinawatra, a police unit of five officers and two pickups delivered a summons in relation to the ongoing criminal probe to his home in Bangkok.

At the same time, the police chief, on Monday, threatened to suspend the top police officer from duty. Meanwhile, the only recourse, at this point, is for General Surachate to have this latest investigation halted or sidelined. The alternative is that the deputy police chief’s career may face a similar fate in a matter of days.

Where is chuwit when we need his insight 🤔 he would make an excellent member

Big Joke has rubbed certain factions the wrong way for a long time. Many of the reasons around the continual Big Joke controversies are not appropriately raised here.

That being said, fill your bandwidths with all sorts of speculation, secure in the knowledge that 99% of you have no idea what you are talking about. We will see who wins in the end, just like the old Politburo

Last I saw, in the U.K. with family getting treatment for Stage 3 liver cancer.

Let the Investigation take its place! The General is innocent until found guilty by the Court Of Law! You can find corruption in every country all the way to the very top but that’s why we have a Legal System to sort things out before jumping to any conclusions.

Except for the Thai police officer who the two NZ brothers unsuccessfully tried to bribe, in today’s other big story. Maybe they’d seen similar posts by cynics on this forum, and just assumed bribery would always work.

Let's put this in perspective.

Gen Torsak only just pipped Big Joke to get the top job. it was neck and neck as who would be top dog.

BJ will always be a threat to him.

Ergo - remove the threat.

The fact that Gen Torsak has had to come out and say that there is no stitch up, well.......

Meh. Not really.

He pipped four others, not Hapkarn

I think Roy Ingkapairoj was top candidate?

Among his elder brothers is ACM Satitpong Sukvimol, private secretary to His Majesty King Maha Vajiralongkorn, as well as grand chamberlain of the Royal Household Bureau and director-general of the Crown Property Bureau. Satitpong also chairs the executive board of many companies, including Siam Bioscience, Deves Insurance, and Doi Kham Food Products.

You forget, the RTP believe they can do anything they like  even making up their own laws, we see this so often.

So cute when farangs pull the innocent until blah blah blah or legal system etc cards. Don’t we wish if it were true.

Read the article, the cop did not want to accept the bribe because there was too many witnesses around the scene

Would be funny if he ends his days as a mall cop.

Or a Massage parlour security guard?

You’d have to show me a link to the relevant article. I can’t find any mention of this in the articles in the Thai News and Phuket Express that were linked to the posts in this forum. I’m assuming that the two brothers are alleging this, rather than any of the witnesses?
