The Tourist Police has taken proactive steps to enhance convenience and ensure the safety of tourists to promote a positive image of the country.

Teaming up with CP All, they have established emergency reporting points for tourists at 7-Eleven stores, reported Daily News.

Since the Thai government initiated the Visa Free policy for international tourists, according to data from the Ministry of Tourism and Sports, from January 1st to March 17th, 2567, Thailand welcomed a staggering 8,074,651 foreign tourists, generating revenue of 390.906 billion baht. This reflects the immense potential of Thailand's tourism sector, drawing interest from global travelers.

Lieutenant General Sak Siriphan Pueak-oyam, Commander of the Tourist Police, emphasized that this collaboration aims to support the government's urgent economic stimulus policy through tourism revenue. It includes adjusting entry conditions, implementing measures to ensure convenience and safety for tourists, and enhancing the country's tourism image.

The initiative involves leveraging the Strong Tourism Community (S.T.C.) project, focusing on Smart Safety Zones in 20 key tourist destinations across 18 provinces. This collaborative effort with private sector partners aims to identify and mitigate physical risks, ensuring safer tourism experiences.

Moreover, CP All's extensive network of 7-Eleven stores, totaling over 14,000 branches nationwide with a workforce exceeding 200,000, makes them an ideal partner for providing assistance to tourists. The staff, trained in customer service and community support, embody the spirit of "Thousands of People, Thousands of Kindnesses," aligning with the mission to serve society.

In the initial phase, 156 7-Eleven branches in crucial tourist areas across 18 provinces have been selected for participation. Over 300 staff members from these branches have undergone training to effectively assist tourists and collaborate with the Tourist Police.

The 20 key tourist destinations in the first phase include renowned landmarks and bustling streets such as Khao San Road in Bangkok, the Floating Market in Samut Prakan, and Walking Street in Pattaya.

Mr. Yuthasak Poomsurakul, CEO of CP All, highlighted the significance of this cooperation in elevating safety measures and convenience for tourists while supporting the government's tourism industry growth agenda.

This partnership not only enhances tourist convenience and safety but also reinforces trust in Thailand as a destination, in line with the ethos of "Giving and Sharing" upheld by both organizations.

Correction: The most dangerous thing in Thailand is a Thai driver.   If only Thailand had a real police force that enforced vehicle laws and road rules.

  • So the lazy, useless, invisible police are deputising 7-11 staff to save them work?

7-Eleven is joining the fight, they're going to eliminate all processed pork products, and all chips made with palm oil in an effort to improve tourist safety

Love it...

Tourist runs into 7-11...   "Some mototaxi guys are trying to kill me, lock the doors and call the police"

7-11 Staff: "Wave Mai Kha ?????"

All laws...

As pointed out... the existing laws in Thailand are quite sufficient... (with a couple of exceptions that need to be eradicated for the progression of society)...

... As pointed out... what is lacking is an police force that edges more towards effective than apathetic.

Maybe Thaialand should close all it's factories and turn them into theme parks?

As well as the Thai male 7/11 workers who smoke a pack a day at the entrances

Perhaps the majority of 7eleven staff(not all)should also be taught how to be polite.

That is on the agenda right below teaching millions of visitors to behave civilly when visiting Thailand...

the crime rate by country reflects reported (by government agencies) crime. What credence you may or may not place in any particular country's law enforcement agencies should be the prime factor in determining accuracy.

''convenience and safety for tourists.... ''...  like preventing tourists getting run over by 10 year olds riding electric scooters !!?

Would you like to report a crime to go with your ham and cheese toasty? That'll be an extra 19 baht kha.

Yep, I can see that work.

I wonder what the staff think about that?

It's too bad most folks on this forum are old geezers on retirement visas/extensions. They won't be able to take advantage of this great initiative.

Im going to wrestle that police woman to the ground get her in a headlock and  hopefully  I wont shoot  my load in the process

If you came here not knowing how to cross the street I'd say you made the wrong decision. Maybe you should find a nice Thai schoolgirl or boy  to hold your hand. And if you consider Thai people to be lowlifes how about looking in the mirror first, because you don't sound like you're much of a prize either. You're the reason why some Thai people don't like farang. In 10 years I've never had a problem crossing, if the driver sees you he's not going to hit you, long as there is stopping distance. You sound pretty clueless and hostile about the culture here. Do you whine about "racism" and the purported double standard as well? You should do us all and yourself a favor and go back to where you came from, people like you don't belong here.

If you thought the checkout lines at 7 Eleven were long before . . .

Wonder if they'll be adding a speed checkout line for 3 crimes or less?

That's allright whenever you call spades spades around here you always smoke out "these" kinds with their one size fits all - go home, ad nauseam. And agendas/reading comprehension "problems" : I did not say Thai people were lowlifes! Was only referring to motorbikes on sidewalks Thais.

An excellent idea to promote tourist safety for nervous first time tourists and travelers.
