Tourist Police and the Chinese consulate in Thailand are teaming up to enhance safety measures for Chinese tourists visiting Pattaya.

A meeting led by Tourist Police Division 1 and the Chinese consulate took place on Thursday, March 21st, 2024, bringing together key figures within Pattaya law enforcement and the city administration to discuss tourist safety, particularly during marine activities.

The meeting occurred after the Chinese consulate sent a delegation to Pattaya to assess safety measures in response to the rise in Chinese tourism, following the Thai government’s lifting of visa requirements for Chinese visitors.

The meeting focused on prioritizing safety during water recreation. This includes establishing more lifeguard stations, deploying lifeguards with safety equipment during peak hours from 9 AM to 2 PM.

Will they have a tourist police officer in every taxi, mini-van, tour bus, train and on every boat?

If not then how are they going to enhance safety.

Doesn't this happen every time there is an incident involving a Chinese party being injured / robbed / conned.

Another useless project to throw (give away) money at....Chinese safety can only be had if they don't use tourist/or any busses...don't use taxis...don't cross the road...don't argue in a restaurant....don't crap on the beach....the list goes on...

Then again....what about the other 10 million tourists that aren't Chinese? Obviously no protection for them!

There is only one position where the lifeguards sit, and that's just on the beach & in the shade in front of Soi 6. They never watch the water but all are glued to watching their smartphones. Doesn't seem like any "prioritizing safety during water recreation" is on offer.

By barring Chinese tourists from boarding Thai operated speed boats.

It's a good start but what about the road networks and the infamous tour buses.
