Pattaya —Pattaya Mayor Mr. Poramase Ngampiches has explained why tourists cannot park on the right side of Pattaya Beach during a recent city council meeting.

The issue was raised by Mr. Suparerk Chomphunuch, a Pattaya City Council member for District 1. He said he had received complaints from tourists who were unable to find parking near Pattaya Beach. He suggested that the city allow tourists to park on the beachside, especially on weekends and public holidays. He also urged the mayor to address complaints alleging that rental vehicle operators are occupying the left side of Beach Road with their rental cars, which causes traffic congestion.

In response, Mayor Poramase stated that parking on the beachside is illegal under traffic laws. However, he said the city has designated some areas on the beachside for parking, which can accommodate up to 90 cars.

,Maybe start with making decent parking spaces? Every piece of land is built with buildings but no places for carparks.. only on the roads ...

In a place where, nepotism, neglect and corruption, no wonder why beach road look like a big mess

where almost everyone and everybody just park and set up stands wily-nily to sell their wares...

An absolute sh*tshow. Now they have been working about a week trying to clear the mud packed drainpipes in the Northern half of Beach Rd. I'm not even sure if that is possible. Expect massage flooding during rains since the project failed. It's the Thais who are complaining about the parking. BecauseIMG_20240401_112342.thumb.jpg.0bcd61aace3aecbcb69668b3797b7ec3.jpg outside of the Thais and these oblivious sorry cigarette smoking foreigners - who else would put up with that mess.

Drive from Klang up to WS and try to find a spot that is not occupied by the hundreds if not thousands of "rent a bike". The rest is "motorbike taxi" reserved or one of the laughable "bus stops" where you never see a bus stop. I was almost fined (and avoided towing) because I parked my scooter on a "bus stop" in front of the huge deserted plot just after VT 6. Had overlooked because it was filled with bikes.
Mercy from the superior let me go

What a dream it was during Covid and parking on the right side.

Never used the sweaty/packed Central motorbike parking.

He said the city will likely issue a new regulation to collect parking fees on public roads.

"Brilliant" idea while parking at Central and other malls is still free (tell that in your country).

Parking garages will be even more jammed.

But yes, hefty fees have to come to expel the rent a bike pest.

It's kind of typical of Thailand that a story about why parking is not allowed on the beach side uses a photo as illustration showing four vehicles happily parked on the beach side! 🤣

ThIs mayor is an idiot just like all the rest that came before him.

He says it is against the law to park Beach side yet they or he has create around 90 spaces which is upper part before Klang.

If it is against the law yet they have broken or made an exception surely they can make more exception. Top to bottom beach side they can create set in sidewalk to rent out to rental vendor and taxi.

Many of these rental vendors noted take up a great majority of spaces opposite side. Take for example in front of Royal Garden a vendor has taken up the entired front of Royal Garden, these big bikes has all the space and they never move.

This can only happen do to the corruption of the mayor, city official, and police on Soi 9.

This is the same nonsense that goes on at the City Hall on Nua, the parking structure lower level must be a personal vehicle storage for City leaders where citizens can barely find a space.

Why is it only "Tourists"?  What about locals?  Different parking rules?

I felt it a rare treat to be able to park on the Beach Rd, beach side, during covid, when attending a dentist appointment. Didn't stop a deck chair vendor nagging me though.

Every day I see lots of cars and motorbikes parked on the right side of Beach Rd. Cops does nothing to fine them and tow away their cars. What a joke. It's meant to be illegal to park on the right hand side. Weekends are especially bad. It also makes big traffic jams when the traffic could be running smoothly.

Not true, there's a paid parking area of land on Beach Rd, half way between Soi 6/1 and Klang, which is between some hotel entrance and a night market. A big piece of land where lots of cars can park. It has no buildings on that prime piece of land.

Is it free for cars to park at Central for however long they wish? Similar to motorbikes?

You expect private land owners to build car parks for the public on their land?
