Swedish man arrested for 972 days overstay in Thailand

They should have a overstay tournament every year.

Person caught with the largest overstay gets a clean slate and a one year visa as 1st prize ! 🏆 👍😃

Everyone but the winner is a massive loser, wouldn't attract too many entrants I would think!

Last century Australia had a couple of amnesties for overstayers where all were granted PR. When an immigration minister became aware that thousands were staying illegally waiting for the next one, he banned them permanently.

These guys are idiots anyway. I have been here 12 years (legally) and not once I had to prove to anybody my visa. I might live here for 50 years and nobody would catch me.  But these guys insist on do

I once saw a post of a bloke on 4,000 day overstay. That's gotta be up there.   But then again, I'm sure there are still some old leftovers from the vietnam war era that never went home

A couple of months in the detention centre will do him a world of good before banning him from Thailand

972 days sounds so dramatic, when if fact it's just over 2.5 years...

But I agree, if you gonna stay here illegally, don't do anything stupid.

Throw him out of the country and ban him for life - next please!

Does anyone track the current high scores? What's the longest overstay ever?

Nobody knows. They haven't caught him yet.
