Patong - An Indian man was arrested for theft at a shopping mall in Patong on Sunday (May 26th).

The Patong Police told the Phuket Express that at 9:30 P.M. on the day in question they arrested an Indian man after he was caught by citizens at a shopping mall on the Ratcha Uthit Road in Patong.

 

He was taken to the Patong Police Station to face charges of night theft.

..since you don't tell us what he stole and only talk about night thefts, would he have faced charges as well if it was day theft?

Yes, but lesser charges.

Maybe he's in a  transition period?

So Patong will be without nights until the fellow stumps up with where he hid them...

My first thought was that he had snatched a purse from a ladyboy on Beach Road.

...did he think maybe they couldn't see him cos it was dark ?  He shouldn't have smiled when he thought he was getting away ...

I don't see "quality tourist" jokes

Have to love Thai reporting (could be the lost in translation matter), this one "Night Thefts" (huh?) in another story a drunken Scotsman is hit by a car after bar brawl when in actuality his "friend" shoved him in front of a passing car on the stumblin bumblin drunken way home. With friends like that who needs enemies?
