Government offices, like immigration is much easier, all the forms are in English and they can speak English, no need to take a local or wife with you, that has to be good!

You're joking about the immigration forms right? Every immigration form in Thailand is in English:

https://bangkok.immigration.go.th/en/downloads_en/

You can also download instructions for all the forms in English too. Example:

https://bangkok.immigration.go.th/en/tm47online-manual/

And the IOs in Thailand speak English too.

Back several years a few of us went over for a look around. We booked a 2 week trip and cancelled after 1 week for all the reasons you mention above. I know 1 week isn't very long but we got ripped off at EVERY turn. The only place we could cash travellers cheques was a black market Chinese shop at a 10% fee.Alongapo/Subic area. The Yanks were just leaving and Mt Pinatubo blew its wad the year before.

The conductor on the Victory Liner bus charged us extra because we put a bag on an empty seat. That was only the beginning. Cab driver agreed on a fare and when we arrived he said, oh no, I meant each for 3 of you. Never ever again.

several years ? that's almost 25 years ago. I'm sure a bit has changed since you and your boys went.

Can't say I'm that bothered about women any more, I've already had my fill.

Presumably that's because your sex drive has gone down? maybe linked to testosterone going down

My 2nd choice of country for my retirement was the PI.  I lived there for 7 years and loved it.  I am a certified scubadiver and the waters of the PI are literally crystal clear.  At night, 140 feet deep one can still see the moon clearly (if it is shining and above you).  Golf is readily available.  People are friendly.  Food - any kind nowadays is available depending on where you would live.  The weather is much like near

the beaches of Thailand with winds off the ocean.  Only problems - active volcanoes, typhoons, floods, strong earthquakes, and that is what decided me on where to go!  If I did have to leave Thailand though,

I would definitely consider the PI.

Is golf around the same price as Thailand? and that garbage compulsory caddy?

I take 250ml testereone every 4 weeks,my sexual drive is not high at all.

,so that can be a myth with testereone which can be dangerous to take ,

These testereone companies put this myth out if you don't become horny as much your testereone is down ,that's just BS

If my sex drive had gone down sooner, it would have saved me a lot of money.

Not rubbish. I was referencing the requirement in order to get a retirement visa at age 35+

https://visaguide.world/retirement-visa/philippines/

What’s really rubbish is their local cuisine like chicken adobo and all the other awful Philippino food they eat over there.

Chicken adobo with a scoop of rice is good stuff. A platter of lumpia as you're  in the bar drinking.

I lived about 10 years in the Philippines. The food is the worst in the world. In Thailand I eat Thai food regularly and enjoy it. In the Philippines, the local food is so bad I had to eat “western' food all the time. And they've ruined a lot of the western food by making it Filipino style.

In the US you don't see many Filipino restaurants. But, if you lived there 10 yrs you got used to it. I visited Subic when my ship would pull in irregularly over many years.

nooooo you completely misunderstood. that's why i put the question mark. i was implying several was not even close to the almost 25 years of actual time that went by.

Retirement wise though?

Where in Philippines would you retire , obviously most to the wife's village

But if you had your choices BORACAY, PALAWAN,

I have left DUAMAGETTE out because YouTubers hype it up

I don't understand why you ask about PI when you gave up on Thailand as retirement. If you were bored in Pattaya, you'll be bored anywhere you roam.

No, after 10 years I didn't get used to it. It's one of the major reasons I left.

So your assessment of the Philippines is the shore leave you happened to get while in port? Like most seamen on , you were likely so drunk you couldn't tell the difference anyway.

Shore leave? Drunken seamen? I see you're clueless.

I wouldn't live there fulltime for other reasons than the food.

It wasn't necessary to have a caddy when I was there and on some courses there were no other players at all...I am sure that may have changed as they were really into opening more courses - a couple I was fortunate enough to be one of the first to play on a new course as I was always invited to play by a powerful govt group.  There were courses that I couldn't afford to play on but for the most part the costs were negligible.  However, I was last in the PI 1994 so everything could have changed in this regards.

So what are these silly games Bob? Every country has their good and bad points.
