British Man Allegedly Assaults Thai Village Manager

Thais tend to like those foreigners more who are just plain tourist because they tend to go with the flow (even when it's against their own better judgement), and then simply leave... Long stay expats (and those here just for the partying) are a different lot... and Thais love calling them out (by nationality it seems) for their bad behavior (which there is no shortage; and a lot of it alcohol fueled)... seems certain expats/foreigners have a tendency to grow tired of the constraint frustrations associated with living in a very different (sometimes unusual) country. Makes you wonder why some choose to come/stay when it seems they might be happier else where.

There are always 2 sides to every story, it would be interesting to see the footage leading up to the still image pictured.

Guy who gets punch doesn't seem to have done anything except walk over to speak to him...

Well what upset the Brit does not require him punching anyone in the face according to the report looks like he is not well liked anyway 🤔

Needs to attend a anger therapy course if he is not wanting to depart the land of smiles in the future 😊

One is woke.

the other is real.

The unwoke army approaches, mumbling incoherently, chanting "Woke is not real. Real is not woke." Hail the anti-Wokey wanky oakie. What kind of subspecies are these people? Originating in the swamps of Florida?

History of bad temper according to the village manager and security guards.

and his neighbours. So please stop selectively picking bits and pieces to support your comments.

Been in Thailand for many years and never hit anyone no matter how angry I was. And never was I hit. Maybe because I treat everyone from the doorman to the CEO with respect. Try that sometime. Guess they don't teach that in UK anymore.

Very fair and accurate post but sometimes people  and  not saying, in this case, a person has done nothing wrong but just randomly attacked and being in the wrong place at the wrong time!!!

Certainly not by the security guards.

The article does not mention or reference anyone else, e.g. neighbours, other residents etc. but it is written in such a way as to give readers that impression.

I hope they deal with the event fairly!

An interesting comparison here between the media of two countries, Thai media makes a point of naming nationalities, British media make a point of not revealing nationality or ethnicity.

Does BBC count as British media?

"Ex-Immigration Minister Robert Jenrick proposes migrant crime data is published," 30 March 2024 By Suzanne Leigh,BBC News

  • "Details of nationality, immigration and visa status should be recorded whenever a criminal is convicted, ex-immigration minister Robert Jenrick has proposed.
  • At the end of June 2023, there were 10,321 foreign nationals in prison in England and Wales, out of a total prison population of 85,851.
  • More than half of foreign prisoners were European. The most common nationalities were Albanian, Polish, Romanian, Irish and Jamaican."

Expats should not have attitudes, how do you think this would have gone down if it was in the UK and a Thai man did this

might have made a local paper. Certainly not national and international, assuming AN and Thaiger count as that. Very much doubt the nationality of the assailant would be a big deal.

of course the assailant would be arrested, bailed and would appear in court on assault charges.

it seems this guy hasn’t been arrested yet?

This has been noted a few times before - hence the "anti farang" sentiments and behaviour from many Thais - especially the younger ones.

Thai on Thai…yawn.

Maybe a yawn but it is still reported here and on other English media sites.

You're the one pushing unrest with falsehoods.

A) Would probably not get further than "Local News"......if it got that far.

B) Not many would give a **** if it did get further than local.

Moobaan security guards and juristic workers can be very annoying.

they are smarmy, sarcastic and like to take the pi$$ out of residents because they are so bored in their little non air conditioned booths sitting on their lazy backsides all day..

something tells me that this fella deserved it!

bob.

Deserved being king hit by a Brit thug? What kind of world do you live in?

Farang probably had enough of the passive-aggressive nonsense from the Thai manager and security guards and snapped.

There's definitely previous between them though, as the article alludes to.

The problem is as soon as we do this as foreigners they win.

Wow, there's an award for total number of assumptions.
