In a concerning incident early this morning, a 76-year-old British tourist was injured in a hit-and-run accident in Pattaya, Thailand. The tourist, identified as Graham Hughes, was struck by a motorcycle while crossing the street in the popular coastal city.

The incident occurred shortly after midnight in a bustling area of Pattaya. Authorities and emergency responders were called to the scene, where they found Mr. Hughes with notable injuries. He suffered a dislocated shoulder and lacerations to his feet, conditions that prompted immediate medical attention.

Eyewitnesses report that Mr. Hughes, who had arrived in Thailand two days prior and was returning from a nearby bar, was crossing the street when a motorcycle hit him at high speed. The impact was severe enough to knock him to the ground. Shockingly, rather than stop to assist, the motorcyclist fled the scene, leaving Mr. Hughes injured on the road.

Local police are currently investigating the incident with the aid of CCTV footage from the area in hopes of identifying and apprehending the responsible individual. The accident raises questions about road safety for tourists in popular destinations like Pattaya, where nightlife often brings increased pedestrian and vehicle traffic.

Authorities urge anyone with information about the incident to come forward as they attempt to bring justice to the hit-and-run case and assess the need for improved safety measures in the area. Meanwhile, Mr. Hughes remains in the hospital, receiving treatment for his injuries and further evaluation of his condition, reported The Pattaya News.

That would be made somewhat easier if the article told us exactly where this happened!

and the dearth of police action on every road in Thailand and in particular Pattaya.

Not unusual if drunk, in "early morning hours" in particular.

Bad luck.

We'll wish him a more pleasant stay for his holidays.🙏

Maybe looking for a bar on the same side of his accommodation.

Posted (edited)

I see many motobikes while driving only look on the phone.

No matter what time it was or whether the person had been drinking perhaps it was one of those
