Former President Donald Trump was swiftly taken off stage by Secret Service agents after apparent gunshots were fired at a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania.

 

Footage shows Trump grimacing and raising a hand to his right ear before ducking as sharp cracks rang out. Agents quickly surrounded him and escorted him to a waiting vehicle. Trump raised a fist as he was bundled into the car.

 

 

 

Trump's campaign confirmed he was "fine" and being checked at a local medical facility. Spokesman Steven Cheung thanked law enforcement and first responders for their quick action during the incident.

 

The Secret Service confirmed Trump's safety and announced an ongoing investigation. They stated that further information would be released when available.

 

Trump was addressing supporters in the crucial swing state when multiple bangs were heard. Witnesses described seeing a suspicious person with a rifle on a nearby roof shortly before the shots. One witness, Greg, reported pointing out the armed individual to police.

 

Other witnesses reported hearing several shots and described chaotic scenes as Secret Service agents protected Trump. Jason, a rally attendee, noted the crowd quickly dropped to the ground for cover.

 

The White House confirmed President Biden received an initial briefing. Politicians from both parties condemned the violence. Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro stated that violence against any political leader is unacceptable, while former Vice-President Mike Pence and House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries expressed their support for Trump and gratitude for the swift law enforcement response.

Looking at the video it appears a bullet may have grazed his ear?

Trump is okay.  Shooter is dead.  One bystander fatally shot and another seriously wounded. 

This attack is very rightly being condemned from across the political divide.

 

There is absolutely no place for violence in politics.

 

RIP the bystander who has been killed.

Maybe they should hire the TSA.  But even with their sophistication there have been instances where weapons have gotten through.

Dreadful thing to have happened should be no room for violence glad it was not too serious and hopefully he will have recovered in time for his sentencing in September!

Relevance? Zero. Most crimes are committed with illegal guns to begin with.

The AGR building where the shooter was positioned was exposed and not covered by the SS, clearly a gap and failure of the SS.

I think the CharlieH clip where the bystanders are explaining that he was in their Plain site and they warned the police who apparently did nothing---will bring some questions.

VDO has been on Al Jazeera showing that he was apparently hit on the ear, though of course that will need to be confirmed. He had some blood on his face as well, though that likely came from the ear.

 

2 inches to the right and no Democrat politician would be out in public today, IMO.

Biden, Schumer, Obama, McConnell all on tv saying the expected words.

 

At least Trump didn't cower in a corner. He looked really angry and was giving a fist shake, presumably at whoever shot him. IMO it's likely that his popularity will increase now.

Obviously the Secret Service were not going to let him hang around, but he didn't look to me like someone that was running away.

 

Expect two things at least, Increased security and conspiracy theories.
