Again the lack of safety is a subject in Thailand causing this fatal accident.

In other areas we have a working public transport system with regular buses. But here we have mafia like structures who rule many levels in public life.

Now this accident will create some attention and after a few days...business as usual.

Best left alone, right, nb! Let them figure it out themselves, it has'nt bothered them for generations, why start now???

Darwin rules the world... let's make all riders put on helmets before boarding a baht bus that might keep the idiots safer.

The way they pack people in like sardines on the jomtien to pattaya route has always been an accident waiting to happen, people hanging out the back and squeezed into the seats is not my idea of a safe journey,i refuse to get on them and wait for a less packed one, sometimes common sense is al you need ( although in pattaya that seems to be the exception not the rule)

I not like to use this kind of transportation too dangerous, uncomfortable, and unfriendly service.

Happy there are much better options now available here in Pattaya.

he should have known about Thailand's 4 D's:

Desperate

Dysfunctional

Dangerous

Delusional

this is the part of the Thai culture that visitors are attracted to, the TAT should lean into and not apologize for it.

I find it hard to believe that a grown man, standing at the back and HANGING ON, would be unable to withstand the centrifugal forces as the vehicle 'sped away'.

Not to mention, I doubt he was facing forward... and there was no centrifugal force according to the photo... it was a straight section... and he was not spun - so he must have been facing away from the truck and that would not give you the same sort of grip against the flow of vehicle.

Maybe Thailand should instigate a 50 million baht compensation payment for all foreigners dying whilst on hoiiday in accidents !

Most foreigners cannot afford paying the Thai government 50 million baht... please don't suggest it... 🤪

I'm not sure if he was standing on the step behind the bahtbus when he fell off, but that is very likely. It has been illegal for passengers to use these steps while the bahtbus is moving for a long time now, but as with most Thai laws this has never been enforced.

The copper is at fault.

He needs to compensate the driver.

The cops in HK are the worst.

Mostly, they are sent down by the CPC to HK to occupy the British Colony.

They should march back to the Mainland.

Xi needs to go.

It's so easy to condemn the poor driver as reckless but probably the rider was responsible for his own demise.

100-percent correct.

The copper should be sent back.

The driver was operating the vehicle in a reasonable and safe way.

This is obvious from the video.

Watch the video before passing judgement.

Exactly.

Also, it's fortunate that he chose to be a Policeman instead of a Fireman...

If he had been a fireman, he might have been falling off the truck...

All the time.

These guys are not geniuses.

But, also, they are not so stupid that they ride standing on the back of the truck....without a safety harness holding them securely to the truck.

Wear a safety harness...like the pros!

Before you do stupid things.

The driver is NOT at fault.

Note:  These firemen also wear non-skid foot gear.  They are pros.  They are not HK cops.

Note2:  These guys are from New Jersey. They don't fall off the back of trucks or busses.

That's what foreigners who die mean to Thailand...

Heaven forbid they have to get real insurance cover rather than some cheap-ass compulsory.

Shouldn't that be nationwide, why just Pattaya.

My thoughts also. I can remember when it was made law to wear a crash helmet while riding a motorcycle. But ONLY IN BANGKOK. Stupid is as stupid does.

As I have said before, all Songtao and Saleng taxis should have a drop down safety bar/gate after people enter. No brainer!!!!
