Do you know anyone on dodgy ground ? In danger ?

Recommended Posts

I know it might sound a bit grim, but have you ever noticed the reports of foreigners here meeting untimely ends through what’s labeled as ‘accidental death’ or ‘suicide’? It often feels like the investigations don't quite add up, right?

We read these stories and can’t help but think there’s something more sinister at play than what’s being reported.

Have any of you expats ever worried about the safety of someone you know when their relationship starts going south? Have you ever found yourself advising a friend to stay alert or be more cautious?Or may be someone you knew passed on and did you think "something not right" about this ?

If those are your thoughts, then you are obviously in the wrong relationship.

Everyone of these .....someone jump or fell from a balcony....... seems suspicious to me......I also think it is incredibly selfish considering the risk you could severely injure or kill someone.

I knew a guy who upset the wrong people, not a gf.

He was scared all the time, and then he left Thailand. Live another day and all that.

I heard about enough upset girlfriends, but I never heard about anything drastic actually happening in or after such a relationship.

But farangs with a big mouth who want to do "Thai" business and/or who borrow money from the wrong people, their life expectancy is limited.

I believe many of those suicides are real. In other countries when people want to kill themselves, they have to think about how they can do that, then maybe buy something, etc. It takes time.

In Thailand, the next balcony with low rail is everywhere - at least in the cities. From the moment that someone wants to die to the moment he actually dies is maybe only minutes.

Yes i know some that are really in danger.

Like the poster before me ,i also knew someone who got himself shot.

I am trying to distance myself from people like that now.

My ex-wife warned me after I got to keep my condo on divorce, that it is dangerous area and bad things can happen in that area (decree absolute more than 7yrs ago now). My GF is more scared than I am but thankfully I'm still alive. I do keep and eye out for motorsai taxi riders with AK47s though.

Is there any truth in the saying I've come across alot here, don't be worth more dead than alive ?or atleast don't tell anyone you are 👍

I've made sure I am worth more to my GF alive than dead.

Not telling anyone how much you have is a good start.

Most are due to mental illness, lots of psycho, crazy, drugged up foreigners here, only themselves to blame.

I keep away from these people, I keep to myself, I have a large family and close friends.

I've met a few farang nutcases here over the years..

three really stick out for me:

one guy was eastern european, he had a couple nazi tattoos on his neck. I questioned him on his tatts, to which he went off on a racist tirade for about an hour. I felt a bit sick afterwards.

another guy had a tattoo of a machine gun on his bald head with a couple of tear drops flowing down his cheek. He came and sat next to me at the bar. I did not engage with him at all.

Finally during covid I was enjoying a cold beer with my breakfast at one of the few places that remained open for the duration of the pandemic. All of a sudden a farang appeared at the entrance and asked the owner could he use the bog for a pee. She said not unless he buys something.. He then proceeded to whip his thing out and urinated all over her floor, then calmly walked away.

There's an Iranian that lives near me who speaks perfect English and Thai aged about 25ish. I think the Thais gave him political asylum, or he's  under consideration. Doesn't seem to have any worries, works on his girlfriends land and doesn't have a visa as far as I know. What happens when his passport expires I can only guess.

He has to report to  immigration,, same as we do, but how often I do not know. He has no car and the IO is about 90km away.

There's no chance of me having that problem to worry about!

The first Thai lady I lived with admitted to murdering her previous Swedish husband.

I suppose you not being Swedish (going by your username) took some of the worry away while you slept.
