I'm not sure, but by the end of the week, he'll be the greatest American moderate in the history of the world!

  • He is the weirdo who first called Vance weird. He is a race baiter. Looks like a tool.

I don't know his specific policies but I do know that's Minnesota has been in bad decline under his leadership.

True. As a left wing socialist from the Islamic State of Minnesota, he's just another pre-reinvented Kamala and already talking the same cr*p. Great pick for the Republican side as he not only shares her repugnant beliefs but has a track record of implementing them. Ripe for attack.

I don't see him as helping her much, except for being more coherent. JD Vance is smarter, more dynamic, and a lot more articulate.

Islamic state of Minnesota....?

The Muslim population in Minnesota is estimated to be around 2% of the state’s total population, which translates to roughly 114,590 individuals  . Minnesota’s Muslim community is notably diverse, including a significant Somali population, which is among the largest Somali communities.

He is neither left wing, nor a socialist. His political views reflect those of a rural farm upbringing with a strong dose of christianity where people rely on their neighbors for support and help each other.  Do not confuse social responsibility with urban leftism.  Most of rural mid west USA and Canada farm folk  share similar conservative socially responsible views that cannot be labeled by outsiders.  People like him tend to have a good moral compass, although annoying at times with their devotion to doing the right thing. As a 24 year army national guard NCO he is better qualified than most to understand the  basic issues of the US military as it relates to recruitment, training and support. It is very unlikely that he is not a loyal and patriotic American.     He did restore social cohesion in the state and has  kept the economy stable.

Whether or not Vance is smarter, is irrelevant. Walz  was smart enough to avoid insulting people by calling them cat ladies.  He is a typical  humble and decent Minnesotan who shouldn't embarrass Harris. I don't think he was a good choice, but then as trump says, most American voters  don't pay attention to the VP choice anyway. I hope Trump is right in that regard.

Is DUI a felony?

The article I read said Walz plead out to "reckless driving".  Then supposedly went sober.

There is felony DUI depends on US State laws and circumstances.

Like how many times did you get caught for same

Did the driver  hurt anybody or cause an accident.

It was longer ago  but remember George Bush had one from Kennybunkeport.

How many DUI arrests did Dick Cheney have,  three?

A nothingburger FOX news hit piece.  In that no right-winger would hold a GOP candidate to the same standard

"As a left wing socialist from the Islamic State of Minnesota,"

Foolishness of the first order.

The Lutheran and Catholic Churches dominate the religious affiliations of Minnesotans.

So unless you fear mandatory bingo and compulsory hot dishes and fellowship you have nothing to fear.

It looks like he is a good guy, he's got a pretty good CV and they likely determined that there were no scandals that would be uncovered. I preferred Beshear, but I think Walz is a safe pic and if anything it adds it the ticket rather than the choice of Just Dull, which dramatically detracts from the other ticket.

From 2006 until 2016, Walz’s constituents in Minnesota’s first district re-elected him, often by a considerable majority every two years. When he ran for governor in 2018, he came away with 53.9 percent of Minnesota’s vote – the largest margin a Democratic-Farmer-Labor Party candidate won by in more than 30 years. In 2022, he was re-elected with 52 percent of the vote.

His re-elections are often tied to a respectable approval rating. A January 2024 approval rating poll, conducted by local Minnesota news outlet KAAL-TV, found that 55 percent of respondents thought Walz was doing a good job.

But voters across the nation seem less passionate about Vance as a vice president candidate. Polling from NPR, PBS and Marist College found that Vance has a 33 percent disapproval rating – a drop from 28 percent when he was first made Trump’s running mate.

FiveThirtyEight, which compiles polling from across the nation and creates an average, puts Vance at a 40.6 percent unfavorable rating.

Introducing JD Vance, aka PC ("please clap") Vance.

So far seems like he's been in hiding at Mar-a-Lago, under lock and key?

Proves how smart Trump is...

Reading this thread so far (as much as I can) makes me think of Rupert Murdoch who makes his money by polarising people and politics in the countries he operates in, he's been doing that in Australia, the UK and the US for decades, and it shows in this discussion. All very vehement and opposite points of view. Not too many calls for unity here! All about dumping on the perceived enemy.

I think it's true that middle America has become less prosperous over the past 40 years, and it really hasn't mattered all that much whether Democrats or Republicans have been the ones  in power, middle America has been in a long, slow decline and no doubt is very pissed off, heralding the rise of blow-hards and conmen like Trump.

In his first presidency, Trump tried to kill Obama-care (and with it the health cover of millions, making the US even more of a high achiever among developed countries in NOT covering its population, nothing to be proud of in my opinion). He actually succeeded in giving generous tax cuts to the very wealthy but not, of course,  to the people who really needed them.  If he's elected, Project 25 looks like it will continue in that grand tradition of screwing middle America and any unfortunate who's tainted with the progressive brush, lower in the eyes of some of the readership here, than the lowest form of vermin. Thanks, Rupert! You've made the world a worse, more dangerous place.

I'm not an American, but if I were, voting for Trump and JD would be so clearly to my disadvantage that I can only marvel at the people who would. Unless of course, I was Elon Musk or any of his ilk (spoiler: I'm not); even before the election Trump is already doing the bidding of Musk. Electric cars NO GOOD are now electric cars GREAT. So we already know who's calling the shots when it comes to the real decisions, not the decisions about trans, not about abortions, not about the B**S*** the rich used to distract others from what's really at stake here –  the big decisions about who gets how much share of the national pie, and it won't be the MAGA crowd who'll be voting for him, it'll be corporates and the very rich.

Privileged cultural enrichers catered to by liberal politicians, as they are in the UK, and surely help account for his open borders stance. How's that Ilhan Omar investigation coming along? WOT? Buried?

As I noted, he won't help Kamala much. So they're both pro-illegal immigration anyway. It's amazing how the liberal press doesn't even care for him.

Why don't all you MAGA Yanks go back to the USA and  help Trump instead of being negative on this forum?

Tim Walz looks like a.....maybe Elon can call him out for that. Can't believe polls until you know their methodology.

This pick seems to worry the Felonistas. Sparktrader has his usual projectile vomiting of posts.

Harris has adopted a solid strategy of being upbeat and positive about the future, while the felon not only has no policies (except deport anyone who doesn't adore him, and jail those he cannot deport) but always paints the darkest picture possible. People are tired of anger and bitterness, so the felon's appeal will fade and fade.

Also, the self-proclaimed Alpha Male is afraid to get on a stage with Harris, knowing full well she will rip him a new one. He says he'd debate her on Fox, but unless the mods will be Hannity and someone else who lives deep up the felon's bloated backside, he will come up with some lame excuse why he doesn't have to debate her. Maybe it'll be bone spurs. Harris would call out his lies, and all he'd have left is racism, which is something that only appeals to his sycophantic goobers.

Harris is going to continue to climb in the polls, and the felon will get weirder and weirder, as the prospect of not only losing, but facing trial and incarceration for the rest of his miserable life loom larger and larger. The felon has peaked. He's only circling the toilet bowl now as history flushes him away.

It's going to be entertaining to see just how weird and desperate the felon gets as November approaches. Also, Judge Chutkan is preparing to start criminal proceedings, which will upset the felon even more.

US debt to GDP is 120%. Biden added almost as much in 3 years as Trump did in 4.

Harris will be a disaster.

The biggest compliment that can be paid to Walz (and Harris for picking him) is how much it has rattled Trump and his acolytes!  🤣

I think voting should only be allowed if you score 7/10 on economic test beforehand. If you don't know the inflation figures you can't vote. That would cancel out the wokes.

Trump is happy. Worst from the top 4 choices. People were worried a good person would get selected. This weirdo is easy meat.

Trump is 18 years older, looks 10 years younger.

Walz is authentic. He doesn't need to hide the effects of the slings and arrows of life. I'm sure Walz would look a lot younger with orange hair, a scalp reduction and waist and chin liposuction. Those were all done on Vain Donny. And he apparently didn't like the appearance of his scalp reduction. So much so that in a fit of rage he raped his first wife over it. So do you want to look old? or look younger and be a rapist?
