Silly old fool. No coincidence you are hitting women, any bloke would lay you out.

Hope he is prosecuted but very unlikely given his position.

Aren't everyone of them at the moment hitting women's, man's and kids to face with their decisions?

In regards to Prawit’s attack on the journalist, the politician faces severe consequences if the reporter in question files a police complaint. The 79 year old, if found guilty, may face imprisonment of up to two years and/or a fine of up to 4,000 baht.

Of course, a "dead friend's watch" could clear up the entire matter without getting the authorities involved.  Ya know?

Just because your a silly old fool that doesn't mean you can yell at people and hit them but I'm sure if you have  many baht it's quite possible to do many things that is forgotten or not noticed at some stage.

The headline "faces prison" is misleading and greatly overstated. This is theory as a worst case scenario, reality is something completely different.

Completely correct.  Prisons are for the commoners and peasants.  The rich and wealthy just pay to make the charges go away.  Well, unless the authorities insist on prison, then the rich and wealthy get a nice penthouse room in a hospital and it is called "a prison."

Make Trump look super intelligent

Hit him with a watch- laden wrist slap. The whole thing was posted on tik tok.

Typical response from a lot of Thai 'Men' who don't like a question asked by any Woman .     Just a Thai Dinosaur who should be in a Nursing Home....one with bars !

They're likely millions upon millions of people who would like nothing more than to see this absolute creep locked up for many many years, but the sad truth is that we all know that he's above the law. The top army officers answer to nobody here, and this goon is above any and all laws.

However the one good thing that comes out of this is that this incident really illustrates exactly who this man is, and exactly what this man is. Which is a corrupt, heinous, toxic, useless and overly entitled general who has been bossing around kids his whole life, and is completely intolerant of questions, criticism or anything but absolute fealty and obedience.

The old porker is pretty sick.

Ain't there a bed available in the hospital where Shinawatra served his time?

Seems to be a miracle bed that cures the sickos.

In a clearer video from a different angle it was clear to see that he struck her a number of times on the head. He was out of control.

The headline 'prawit faces jail' is a little over the top. Sure he was violent to the lady journalist but it's NOT instant jail.

And maybe there's history between the two which prompted his violent outburst, but that doesn't make it OK to hit anybody including the media.

Seems to me he thinks because of his military history etc he can do anything.

Well there’s an appropriate response to not getting a job. Swat the head of a pretty girl who asked you a question.

The silly female journalist got away lightly.

He could well make her disappear never to be found. She should immediately issue public apology and prostrate before the great Prawit to ask for forgiveness

A big fat brown envelope will ease the journalist’s pain just make sure it hurts his bank balance

A man who strikes a woman is the lowest of the lowest and does not deserve any form of role in public office

A woman of course. What choice did he have? She made him do it.

Usually a nice "wai" and a few words of apology and all is forgiven and forgotten.

If the reporter does file charges and he does go to jail (unlikely!) he'll have plenty of time on his hands! 😂

We all know he will never do one day in jail,....the police hospital luxury room will be waiting for cases like this !!!

Palang Pracharath Party leader Prawit Wongsuwan faces an assault charge after he lashed out in anger towards a Thai journalist after being questioned about the new Prime Minister of Thailand.

The parliamentary meeting to select a new PM following the removal of ex-PM Srettha Thavisin began at around 10am today, August 16. At the end of the meeting, the leader of the Pheu Thai Party, Paetongtarn Shinawatra, secured 319 votes from Parliament members and became the new PM of Thailand.

Despite the significance of the meeting, Prawit chose not to attend and instead opted to meet Thai athletes who just returned from the Paris Olympics.

At the end of the welcoming event with the athletes, numerous Thai journalists approached Prawit for an interview, inquiring about his meeting with the Olympic contenders and his views on Paetongtarn becoming the 31st Thai Prime Minister.

Regarding his discussion with the athletes, Prawit shared that he encouraged them to secure even more medals for Thailand, despite the country already having achieved its highest medal count ever.

Prawit also expressed his desire to inspire more young people to engage in sports, regardless of discipline, to enhance the nation’s reputation and bring joy to the Thai people.

Angry Prawit

An unexpected moment occurred when a female journalist asked Prawit whether he had watched the live broadcast of the prime ministerial selection. Instead of answering, Prawit lashed out in anger.

“What? What? What are you asking? Asking who?”

Unexpectedly, Prawit raised his hand towards the journalist and struck her. His bodyguards quickly rushed him to the car. Prawit shouted at the journalist before leaving.

“What were you asking? I didn’t hear that.”

The journalist repeated her question but Prawit continued to avoid answering. He expressed his irritation loudly as his car was leaving.

Some news agencies reported that the journalist was struck on the head, while others said she was hit on the arm.

Prawit’s absence from the PM selection meeting today is suspected to be related to a recent conflict between the two parties. The issue stems from the recent election for the governor of Pathum Thani province, where the Pheu Thai Party representative, Charn Puangphet, won.

However, MPs from the Pheu Thai Party, Wan and Chalerm Ubumrung, encouraged Charn’s rival, the independent candidate, Khamronwit “Big Jezz” Thupkrajang. This led to complaints against the two MPs by the party leader, Paetongtarn.

Following the conflict, Wan decided to move to the Palang Pracharath Party, while his father, Chalerm, chose not to attend the PM selection today.

In regards to Prawit’s attack on the journalist, the politician faces severe consequences if the reporter in question files a police complaint. The 79 year old, if found guilty, may face imprisonment of up to two years and/or a fine of up to 4,000 baht.
