A foreign tourist confronted a Thai teenager in Sukhumvit Soi 11 in Bangkok after catching him pickpocketing £400 (approximately 17,700 baht). The incident turned heated as the tourist demanded the return of his money, assisted by a local Thai woman.

 

A widely shared 23-second video on the popular Facebook page เจ๊ม้อย v+ shows the intense exchange. Captured on Sukhumvit Soi 11, the footage reveals a group surrounding the teenage pickpocket, including the infuriated foreign tourist and a Thai woman. The tourist can be seen angrily shouting, “Where’s my money?” before slapping the teenager forcefully on the head.

 

The video highlights the tourist’s frustration as he demands the return of his stolen cash. The teenager, visibly distressed, faces the wrath of the tourist.

 

 

 

 

The situation escalates as a Thai woman intervenes, attempting to mediate the conflict. She steps between the tourist and the teenager, urging the young thief to return the stolen money.

 

The woman’s attempts to calm the tourist and resolve the situation are evident, as she repeatedly asks the teenager to hand back the money, reported KhaoSod.

 

The clip has sparked a debate on social media, with many praising the tourist’s assertiveness and the Thai woman’s intervention. However, it also raises questions about the appropriate response to such incidents and the role of bystanders.

Lucky it was not a Thai guy he stole from. Did mob justice just not beat a Thai guy to death the other day.

The Thai thief picked the wrong guy ...   he's lucky they didn't lynch him as thai mobs do to others.

demanding the return of his wallet .The crowd who mostly did not understand were getting ready to beat this guy to a pulp.... until a wallet was thrown on the ground.  Nobody asked the American where he got his money from but he did get it back.

doesn't matter how or where he got his money -  that's got nothing to do with the story we're reading.

 Can you explain what you are attempting to infer ? . I made no mention of race in my post, only Nationality. The American in Rome who  similarly accosted a thief  was not African.

Yet no one was suspect of the Americans source of income or the origins of his possessions. I was curious why @chippendale thought it was a pertinent point to be made about the African in Thailand.   He still hasn't responded to  my post.

Where has it been reported that the black carrying sterling was African?  He could be a British tourist (unless they don't have blacks in the UK?)

The appropriate response? Cut off his hands, it will definitely reduce the rate of recidivism.

You've never been down soi 11 have you? The only Africans down that Soi are dealers, from Nigeria. Sierra Leone. Ghana , etc. BLACK quick to throw in the race card leftard . 

Totally agree. Been coming to Thailand 20 years,and only African males have been offering me drugs and ladies of the night from Africa around that area. if it was Chinese men with big noses doing it I would say the same. The identifier of the majority of foreign men doing it is black males from Africa. It's NOT a racist comment, get a dictionary and look up the word

What is there to question? What should the african man done? There are never any police in that area unless making a show for the press or collections. Police allow lots of criminals to operate there. I would say the boy was pretty tame. Personally, the pickpocket would have one chance to return my money before I would seize him and find it myself. Or drag him to one of those small police outlets. Either way, I would make sure to get my money back.

Many years ago in London I was picked and I caught the guy that did it he tried to push me away so I dragged him into a side street and kicked the crap of him, the African guy should of done the same.

I am black and retired and would be considered wealthy....where $400 or 400 pounds is just another night in Nana or PatPong for me (love King's Castle).  So, for the guy who asked the question,,,,we work hard for our money...yes, big surprise that a black man have that much.  Deal with it.  The kid messed up and got lucky.  Very lucky that it was only a slap.
