A violent domestic incident in Phra Saeng District, Surat Thani, has left one man dead and two others seriously injured. On the night of September 15, Mr. Thanakorn, 32, armed with a machete, attacked his former wife’s family at their home, killing his ex brother-in-law and severely injuring his former in-laws.

The deceased, Mr. Suthep, 31, a schoolteacher, suffered seven stab wounds and died at the scene. His parents, Mr. Suphon, 59, and Mrs. Jintana, 62, were also injured in the attack and have been hospitalised with serious wounds. Mr. Thanakorn’s former wife, Ms. Pornsiri, 32, sustained minor injuries while attempting to stop the attack.

The couple had recently been in conflict over the custody of their child, leading to the attack. Authorities are now searching for Mr. Thanakorn, who fled the scene after the attack. An arrest warrant is expected to be issued later today.

Witnesses reported hearing a loud argument before the attack occurred. Neighbor Mr. Sumet, 54, attempted to intervene but was unable to prevent the tragedy. Police are treating the case as a family dispute turned violent.

For heavens sake don't string this into the Pattaya News. Citizens there are still reeling fron an incident involving two Aussies in a drunken brawl!

I am surprised more don’t act this way after losing the right to see their children.

In Thailand and more so in the West.

Women can be cruel.

She did I think but she died when I was very young and I have no memory of her. Only photos.

That would also explain it. You need therapy, I hope that you get it for your own sake. Living with hatred of the opposite sex is neither healthy nor responsible.

Sounds to me like you are a feminist.

If by that you mean someone who both likes and respects women and treats them as fellow human beings with equal rights, yes, you're correct. Perhaps you meant something else though? Which aspects of feminism do you find unpleasant?

The extent of your misogyny is remarkable. A man comes and murders one person and severely injures two others and you somehow blame the wife of this walking POS for being cruel? Do you even comprehend the depths of your hatred? Did Mommy not love you? Poor baby.

Anyone capable of this should certainly not be allowed around their children and there's likely good reasons as to why he was restricted at the time. He just proved it beyond any doubt.

To nip this in the bud. Blaming the woman might be a little short sighted but her not allowing him to see his child might have started him on this path of destruction. It happens to a lot of us fathers when custody is the issue. Women think they can do whatever they want and get away with it. Of course I'm not saying this is what happened, but it does start a fire sometimes. Going to these lengths is obviously wrong and no one wins here, especially the children, because they now lost an uncle, a dad and their thinking will be damaged for a long time to come.

My ex in Texas took my children, illegally, out of school then out of state, and nothing was changed until I went back to court and showed the judge the paperwork showing she wasn't allowed to do this, and they were given back to me. I have nothing but respect for a good woman but nothing but contempt for those that do anything to hurt the relationship between a child and their father. The same goes the other way , although it happens in only a small percentage of the time. The best way to fight this, if she wasn't allowing him to see his children, is to go to court. A father has rights a court can't interfere with unless he's doing something wrong to the children.

Saying this, this man might have just been jealous or hellbent on damage because of a mental illness, so we don't know until we know.

Without knowing the whole story the thing wrong with this thinking is it doesn't solve the custody problem and only permanently damages relationships between the children and their parents. It actually does happen it different fashions all over the world. Some dads just let their kids go if the woman stops visitation because they don't care. Some will fight for their rights which is the best course of action, until the court gives you those rights,

which is their job, and some go to extremes, like this man did, and ruin everything.

Fighting over the kids hurts them most, and some parents, usually women, don't care what happens to the children, as long as they hurt the dad. They forget their relationship and what happened, and only turn their anger on the ex partner, putting the kids in the middle. The children should have both parents, if the both parents are stable, and visitation of both, again, if both are stable. They should live with the best parental choice, and this doesn't mean the woman. It means where they will be taken care of best. Yes, women can be, and are, cruel when a divorce comes, but so can be men.

Thailand usually gives the children to women, and this is ignorance. Granted, most Thai men won't fight for their kids like western men will, but this should still be taken into account when deciding where the kids live. A stable home means one where the parent can give time to his kids, train them, educate them, care for them, and be there when they need it. It doesn't mean taking off and going to another city and sending money back (sometimes), while grandma takes care of the kids.

Why are you blaming the women? They had a legal dispute over child custody, there is nothing in the news report saying the wife denied him access to the child or even if the child was living with her.

It appears to be the ex who has murdered the ex-brother in-law and attacked the parents and you seem to show sympathy to the ex-husband?

If not legally married in Thailand, the father has no rights on the child, I would guess many men here prefer not to look after their children once they seperate as a ne gf or wife will not want his kids from a previouse gf/wife.

You still have visitation rights as a father anywhere, IF you want them. The fact that most don't care once a child is born here nullifies that .

Maybe she knows he is a Psycho and has threatened the child to get back at his ex.

We don't know the reason that made them argue over the child's custody .

But in hind-sight it looks like the child would be better off with its Mother than its Father.

There is nothing to say that the Mother or Father, was the the one who wanted custody, or already had custody. We all just Presume it was the Mother who wanted custody.

Under Thai law you have no rights if you are not legally married to the mother. That has been clearly told to me by a Thai Judge. Note this was in 2022, so unless the law has changed since then it still stands.
