Honest Question: How is Trump a 'threat to Democracy'?

Featured Replies

  • Popular Post

As a non-US citizen, the chaos of the presidential election is just surreal. the Dems keep doubling down on their 'threat to democracy' rhetoric which must have had an influence on the two recent attempts on the former Presidents life, but seems to be ignored.

As there are many Democrat supporters on here, could someone please explain what the threat to democracy actually is? And please no 'dictator' will abolish all elections, go after his opponents nonsense. Trump was president for four years but did nothing like that at all. Also no russia collusion rubbish, it was Hillary that paid for the Steele dossier.

So the question remains, how exactly is Donald Trump a threat to democracy. Please be aware I have no horse in this race, like many around the world I am watching in shock and horror as the most powerful country on the planet seems to be destroying itself, and that's a concern for every (western) citizen.

45 has denied any association with it. You HAVE to know he is the most prolific, blatant liar ever to be involved in politics at this level.

If that doesn't convince you then you don't want to be convinced, you just want to deny, ignore, lie, deflect or obfuscate the truth.

Up to you.

Trump has made it quite plain he will be clearing out the entire judicial system - Department of Justice, FBI etc. His past includes attempting to suborn votes in Georgia, putting up fake electors, and inciting an insurrection. He has appointed judges in multiple courts to follow his lead.

It's a pattern in history - Franco, Hitler and Lenin. Seizing power with a minority, then consolidating it with the legal system. He's already got the cult of personality entrenched.

7 million more votes for democracy.

Trump would have no chance at all if it was not for an undemocratic Electoral College.

Up to you.

I'm not here to be 'convinced' of anything. I would like hear truth and facts from both sides. You have given an argument for what is so bad about trump, would you like to add some negatives about the Democrats?

That seems to be the case watching from far away. Everything appears very one-sided.

Negatives about the Dems? That was NOT the question you put forth. You asked "how is he a threat?" I'll repeat only one more time, read "Project 2025." It spells out in very clear terms what he plans on doing.

I politely asked IF the poster would like to add any negatives about the Democrats. It would be beneficial to hear both sides to the argument. No need to be aggressive.

Everything you think he plans on doing  except he has said that is not his manifesto.

They spelled it wrong.  It's not democracy.  It's Democrats that he's a threat to.  They're the real threat to democracy.

Did you miss the part where he is the most prolific, blatant liar in politics at this level?

Hmmm . . . "new" member, posting a very loaded question of a topic, trying to change the parameters of the argument mid-stream?

Yeah . . . nope, not gonna take this bait.

member for over a decade, i use it mostly for info re: visas etc. lost my login and rejoined couple of years ago. no changes of parameters, merely asked a question of someone. nothing 'loaded' either, its a genuine question because trump published a long list of dems using the phrase.

Of course not.  That's "their side".  These are people that thought Hillary Clinton would make an appropriate "good guy" to Trump's "bad guy".

Yet, somehow, he is also the most lied about figure in American politics.

It really doesn't. Trump was not even involved in drafting that. He has said clearly he will not implement it.

What chaos ?   2 people running for office, where's the drama.   Stop watching the news, both sides.

If voting, listen to the candidates, to what they are saying and not saying.  More importantly, stayed tuned into your local & state elections.  If members of US Congress seats are up for grabs, then pay attention.

Be happy with your choices.  If you want change, don't vote for any incumbent, unless you are happy now.

i'm not american so that means nothing to me. if you don't think two assassination attempts against a former president is chaos, or that the constant bad mouthing on both sides is normal, the god help the rest of the world

Not the first time candidates have been shot at, ever killed, along with presidents themselves, or bystanders.   RFK, G. Wallace come to mind.  JFK killed, and then Reagan shot.  That's just my lifetime.

It's politics ... same worldwide :cheesy:

7 shot (15%), 4 killed (8.6%), out of 46.

fair enough, thats all true. definitely not right though, i dont like that its viewed as normal, or just the price you may pay if someone doesnt agree with your politics. most of the western world seems to be having a psychotic episode right now, people are just so aggressive, angry and completely intolerant of people with different opinions. and i mean people on both sides of any disagreement. it has to stop.

ooh, so i've been made an explorer member. does that mean i cant be a russian troll anymore? or is that the standard insult to anyone who disagrees with a democrat?
