Prawit Faces Scrutiny Over Possible Excessive Absences from House Sessions

House Speaker Wan Muhamad Noor Matha has initiated an investigation into whether Palang Pracharath leader and MP Prawit Wongsuwan has missed too many parliamentary sessions, which could jeopardize his status as a member of the House of Representatives. This action follows a petition filed today by former Pheu Thai spokesperson Prompong Nopparit.

The investigation will determine if Prawit has been absent from more than 25% of House sessions without prior permission, which, according to parliamentary rules, could endanger his MP status. Prawit has reportedly failed to vote or abstain from voting on 13 out of 16 bills and motions since the current parliamentary term began.

In a related development, a controversial tape surfaced on social media, allegedly capturing Prawit expressing frustrations about his unsuccessful bid to become prime minister. Prawit's party members have dismissed the tape as an AI-manipulated fabrication aimed at tarnishing his reputation, purportedly orchestrated by individuals associated with Pheu Thai.

The political landscape has further shifted with the Palang Pracharath party playing a less prominent role in the current government. Half of its MPs, led by Thammanat Prompao, have defected to support Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra, the daughter of influential Pheu Thai figure Thaksin Shinawatra, after Palang Pracharath was excluded from the Pheu Thai-led coalition, reported Thai Newsroom.

Adding to the political turmoil, Bhumjaithai MP Suwanna Kumpiro has been ordered by the Supreme Court to cease his legislative duties immediately. This suspension came as the court considers an electoral fraud case against him, filed by the Election Commission.

Suwanna is accused of engaging in vote-buying activities, which allegedly secured his victory in last year’s election for an MP seat in an upper northeastern constituency.

The developments involving Prawit and Suwanna underscore the increasing scrutiny and legal pressures on Thai politicians, reflecting an evolving and contentious political arena.

Poor Toady is too busy for the nonsense of parliament with all the watches he has to maintain everyday, winding, checking and adjusting time, cleaning etc along with a couple of power naps leaves little time for anything else.

Abcent or precent, what dues it matter, he's sleeping half of the time get rid of him

The (real) PM is obviously harassing him, probably as a tit-for-tat or to gain some advantage in behind the scenes negotiations.

No show no payment should be the norm... Besides this man is too old It should be forbidden to work after 75 in any job...Let him retire and get him out of party

To busy having his Diaper changed and his wheelchair serviced. He can barely walk unaided.

Fat watchboy haven got the smarts to outmanoeuvre Tony.
Seems uncle Tu is the smart one who faded out quietly when he realises game over

Leave him alone, what difference does it make if he sleeps at home or in house sessions.

(Not really possible to say he didnt notice the time and missed the session lol!)

Too slow....555

Wan Muhamad Noor Matha is not up to date. Prawit is known as the toad which dozes off on a daily, if not hourly basis. Sometimes it happens during house sessions and the rest of the time it happens everywhere else. What else do you expect from a tattering 79 years old geezer - honestly?

Thaksins miffed 'cause Pravit didn't vote for his choice of PM twice.

Disabled access into Parliament is li limited. There is insufficient room for a crane jib to operate. A lack of sleeperette seating  is also a deterrent.

The guy is obviously on his last legs     But the whole system seems to be based on a mafia like hierarchy ,  he is still  well connected and as such untouchable,  he's going nowhere until he is good and ready

This is a very old, overly entitled, overly rich, overweight empty suit, that has no business being in the position he's in, brings absolutely no skill to what he does, brings nothing to the table other than his self interests, and the interests of the utterly useless Thai army.

He is a vampire, sucking the blood of the nation.

His dead friend wanted his watches back 🤔

Met him briefly once. Very unhealthy person. I don't know why he wants a parliamentary seat when he isn't capable of doing anything while there. I guess he is an institutional watchdog only.

I wouldn't be surprised if his parliamentary seat  actually doubled as a commode ,  that would explain why he  wants it.

No need to wake him up to change his pampers

He's a national treasure,   just like Diane Abbot in the UK

I disagree. He also took a very good care of his borrowed watches... they were shining on the photos!

I would imagine he has "people" to do that kind of stuff for him, probably the same people who collect from and return him safely to the day room
