Man charged with attempted assassination of Trump at Florida golf course as case is assigned to Judge Aileen Cannon

Updated 6:18 PM EDT, Tue September 24, 2024

Prosecutors on Tuesday filed the charge of attempted assassination of a major presidential candidate against Ryan Wesley Routh, the man they say camped outside of Donald Trump’s West Palm Beach golf course for hours on end, armed with a rifle that he pointed through a chain-link fence with a clear shot to the next hole where the former president was headed on September 15.

Routh, allegedly “stalked” Trump in Florida for more than a month, prosecutors told a federal magistrate judge on Monday, with cell phone data allegedly placing Routh at the golf course as well as Trump’s Mar-a-Lago residence across several days between August 18 and the day Routh was arrested. ...

Judge Aileen Cannon, a Trump appointee who oversaw, and later threw out, the federal criminal classified documents case against the former president, was randomly assigned to oversee the case, court documents show.

Unlike with the Trump case before Judge Cannon, it is at least possible that Routh will enter a guilty plea as -- also unlike Trump -- he likely cannot afford anything else.

(He is currently being defended by Federal Pubic Dender office)

Is this the corrupt doj giving this case to our heroine.

To prove her fair and balanced in all things Donald

The reason Judge Cannon was assigned to the Trump case and now the Routh case is that she is the only Judge in the Ft. Pierce district -- she got that appointment because, to any high-power Federal attorney in Miami, that is the district backwater.

As noted in the CNN OP Judge Cannon " was randomly assigned to oversee the case, court documents show." but there is a weighting formula by location and other factors.

As reported by The Hill:

For the purpose of assigning judges Fort Pierce is treated as part of the neighbouring Palm Beach Division. There are three federal district judges in Palm Beach, one of whom is a senior judge.

And from The Guardian:

Two senior judges on the Florida bench urged Cannon to defer when it was randomly assigned to her last June, in part due to a perception that she was biased in Trump’s favour because of her actions after the allegations against him of illegally retaining sensitive government documents first came to light.

“Federal Pubic Dender”

「-My client Mr Routh is an innocent tourist from Hawaii who just wished to take some go-pro footage for a YouTube. He was exercising his rights under the First amendment, and under Florida law his Constitutional carry rights to carry around an assault weapon anywhere he chooses. When suddenly he was shot at by trigger happy agents and ran for his own safety. The agent or agents  could not see what they were targeting and what was behind it and caused a great danger to my client and the community.  Mr. Routh worst may be guilty of tresspass, but for that he claims ignorance as he didn’t see and no entry sign and is deeply sorry for any alarm he may have caused」-Federal Public Defender

A good opportunity for this deeply flawed and biased amateur “so-called judge” to actually show appreciation of our Nations founding principles and perhaps even learn Federal court procedures

I can't understand how the case against trump for keeping / not securing / not returning  classified documents etc etc., was 'thrown out'.

The Routh letter of premeditation has already been released. Your  satire above could not even be remotely plausible because of the letter.

A corrupt judge beholden to Trump explains the event quite easily.

IIRC Jack Smith has appealed her ruling. If it is reversed, I expect she would be recused by the appeals court.

Even before dismissing the case, she did everything she could to delay and impede it.

Because the “Judge” is a GOP political operative, not a jurist.

It's on appeal now and should be reinstated shortly.

Those were my thoughts, but only assuming that the "letter of premeditation" was genuine. I recall that, not amy days ago, there was circulation for one day of a sworn affidavit by an ABC employee that the Harris/Trump debate was fixed, but that seemed to die as quickly as it arose, so now I assume was fake news.

Right on...but Cannon is as corrupt as a light-year is long, regardless if she actually does her affirmed duty this time. She's up Trump's ass so far, his hair is turning black and hers, orange.

"Defendant, do you have a Biden/Harris bumper sticker on your truck?"

"Yes, your honour".

"This court finds you guilty as charged"

"Long like Ukrai......"

"Goodbye, Mr Routh"....
