Pathum-Thani, first time using $$ in bank for marriage extension, questions.

Featured Replies

In the past I've been using local income to obtain my marriage extension at Pathum Thani.

This year I have to use money in the bank, the $$$ has been there since March, so no issues with seasoning.

A couple of questions, please keep specific to Pathum Thani, they have their own little quirks: -

  • How old can the bank letter be?
  • Do they need a passbook update on the day of application?
  • Does anyone have a sample bank letter? I just KNOW that our local bank will find difficulties in providing the requisite documentation.
  • Anything else that's special to our friends at the Pathum office.

Any reason for not doing the banking on day of application.

Mainly coz the banks aren't open when we usually attend.

Otherwise, we end up sitting under the hot sun (ok there's a roof) for hours!

At Pathum Thani I always got bank letter first, and next day I went to the IO for the extension. No issues.

Always required update bankbook on day application.

Parking in front of the office 20 thb, and with the recent high water you might get some dirt on the shoes.

They were always nice and fast. Never more than 45 minutes for the yearly extension.

Yeah, "activity" and passbook update isn't an issue can use the machine any time.

Last couple of days, my TGF was trying to update my BKK Bank passbook via the machine, but repeatedly was getting errors. She got it done at the counter and they said they had said to change the book. So on my next visit I have to do that. Strange, the book is in good condition and has many blank pages.

The issue is some io require "activity" (deposit or withdrawal) on day of application.

I think that's more the case where the IO are insisting on updated passbook on the same day as submitting the application.

Bangkok bank can update to the current date, whereas Kasikorn only updates to the previous day, unless you make a deposit or withdrawal on that day in order to update to the current date.

Yeah, always very pleasant and quick although we usually have to wait for the Big Boss to roll up to sign off (his parking spot is right by the waiting area).

A quick update.

No real surprises, the bank actually knew what was needed 🙂

Did the letter the day before going to immigration and a passbook update on the way there (after withdrawing the $$$ to pay immigration).

Interestingly, this year there was no home visit (Pathum were known for visiting every year for marriage extensions) but they still needed a new TM30 address report (I'd left the country earlier in the year, maybe that triggered it).

There's also a handy-dandy way to check your application status using Line.

Works OK, although it just says "Pending" until the actual approval comes through.
