How to I get rid of this new left hand sidebar?

I don't like it and don't want it.

I don't see any left-hand sidebar on my screen.

I also don't see the screenshot of your left-hand sidebar, if you posted it.

Looks familiar.   Almost the same as the one on my screen 🙂

I very much dislike it also, for all the previous posted reasons.

using devtools

normally ctrl + shift + c

then click on the border that selects the whole column

then press delete.

This is possible with all browsers but hotkeys will differ depending on your OS and browser combo.

You can also just right click and inspect and press delete to delete crap off any page.

So you are suggesting I alter the HTML every time I refresh the page?  You can't possibly be serious!

Oh, so that's the sidebar people are talking about.

Perhaps I don't see the it because I am rading the forum on my phone.

My method: I began reading AN on the PC browser in reduced windows size (width) not full size.

Just fiddle and the annoying sidebar p.sses off.

You have to fiddle with window width and zoom factor in the browser.

I have reduced the screenshot size for readability:

Removal of any element  on any web page can be simply done by using UBlockOrigin element picker mode.

I also don't like it to appear on the left side all of a sudden...

Don't forget. Majority of those who give a life to AN,  are the elderly retired pot belly grouches who have their little habbits and any such change is totally destabilising and overwhelming !! 🤣

I think the old layout was better on lower width screens 1024 to 1366 pixels which many of us still have

not talking about ads, but there are now topic previews on both side of the screen, the left under 'topics' and the right under each forums groupings,

thankfully if you increases font size or zoom past 150% the left and right columns go away

That is not a solution.  Neither are the suggestions to reduce screen size or use developer mode.  I can't believe people would even suggest it. 🤦‍♂️ The most 'practical' solution I have read so far is blocking the HTML code in uBlock, and it's far from practical.

Those HTML "developers" have to justify their salary somehow. Next year the new guy will move it all back to the right. :whistling:

Have a great day
