Pattaya City is in uproar as furious parents of a 12 year old boy from Pattaya City School 2 claim their son was assaulted by his physical education (PE) teacher in a brutal attack that has sparked outrage and calls for immediate action.

 

According to the boy’s parents, the teacher allegedly kicked their son, choked him, and threatened to “smack him until he was no longer stupid.” The horrifying incident reportedly took place on Tuesday, November 5, leaving the family shaken by the teacher’s warning that he could do much more.

 

Following the parents’ complaints, Pattaya Deputy Mayor Kritsana Boonsawat swiftly announced that an investigation committee had been established to uncover the facts. This committee, comprising members from both the school and the education department, is tasked with determining the truth and ensuring fair treatment for both the student and the accused teacher.

 

“If these allegations are substantiated, the teacher could face disciplinary and legal consequences, up to and including dismissal.”

 

The teacher has reportedly expressed a willingness to apologise, according to the school principal. However, given the severity of the accusations and the potential for similar incidents, Pattaya officials are treating the matter with caution.

 

Currently, the teacher remains in his role, pending investigation, but city authorities have emphasised a zero-tolerance approach to physical punishment.

 

Deputy Mayor Kritsana reassured concerned parents.

 

“We urge anyone who encounters such issues to come forward; Pattaya is committed to addressing this seriously and promoting non-physical disciplinary methods.”

 

With the investigation underway, parents and the community await answers, and justice, for the young student. The Deputy Mayor has extended an invitation to the family to meet at Pattaya City Hall, underscoring the city’s commitment to transparency and support as this disturbing case unfolds, reported Pattaya Mail.

Loose job for life. Loose pension. Jail 10y. Compensation to child 100,000 baht. If his still doing his job which is unbelievable I hope somebody pays him a visit. Thailand cares more about dogs than it's children, how the hell can he still be working in the same school, just crazy.

Is the teacher not innocent until proven otherwise?

My best friend (long ago) was teaching in the same school as me.
One day, a girl made a police complaint that the teacher tried to rape her.
She showed struggling marks on her breasts and her inner tights.
The teacher was arrested and charged with attempt to rape a minor aged girl.
He was married and had children, but his wife and his children left him on hearing the police charges.

The whole community, a farmers settlement was ready to lynch the teacher.
A few days later, before the trial, he hanged himself in jail.
The girl was questionned by a inspector team and admitted that she fabricated the whole story because the teacher gave her bad results.

He should be put on leave until they get the whole story, although, why would he offer to apologize if he didn’t do anything wrong. Suspicious to say the least. If he is found guilty then he should not be able to teach again and pay the price for child abuse.

No cameras / video at the school?

During class there had to be many kids that witnessed the whole thing!! 

Just that should be enough to at least suspend him till he gets his day. 

I for sure would not be sending my kid to that school till that was done!

An apology isn't enough, neither should he be still teaching, he should be suspended with a date to return to hear the final verdict.

I would at least expect a suspension until the facts are known, innocent until proven and all that.

Thai males have some serious issues....their use of violence first,  is open for all to see....they frenzy at the slightest moment.

But then...look at Thai soapies and adverts....there's always shouting and screaming going on...I guess that's the norm maybe?

Should be able to ask the questions needed in a few hours , how long will this committee need ?

In the absence of a police force I'd like to apply. I am a retired teacher during those happy days when I could practice my table-tennis forehand smash, (still playing at 82) using a size 9 gym slipper.

I am adaptable.

A year ago my boy was verbally shouted and swore at several times by a male teacher, and hit with one of his many different show canes.

After several trips to see the head brother, he was eventually demoted, after a month he was given all his privileges back. Pathetic outcome really 

give all the kids a hard wooden stick and let em ripp

 

there must be witnesses, lots of them

 

but hey, this is a populace that blocks ambulances...so...

I can assure you that the female teachers are just as bad if not worse.  

The amount of physical punishment in Thai schools is a massive eye opener.  especially when a lot of it is for pretty much nothing.  Completely wrong but it seems to be the way here.

I condemn hard physical punishment like in this story. But I notice regular disrespect towards teachers.

Especially in USA, Europe.

Some ideas of dr. Spock, and parents who are not at home due to jobs, resulted in some spoilt children.

A well deserved soft slap in the face at the right time can correct this behaviour very quickly and has more impact than 1.000 words.  Children need to know their boundaries.

In my youth, long time ago, my father used to tell me: if the teacher hits you then you will probably have deserved it. And do not come complaining, otherwise I will give you an extra punishment.

But yeah: that was in the old times.

But also a system wrongdoing. There is a headmaster at the school.

If its correct, certainly not first time he (and others) done like this.

Still continued to go on.

Until some parent have the courage to go against "authorities".

Forced to admit guild to appease the parents?

If it happened in the classroom, wouldn't there be a lot of witnesses?

    Highly doubt 'Pattaya is in an uproar' over this incident.  Let's watch the over-the-top hype on these stories.  With every one of them, Pattaya is 'outraged, 'in an uproar', 'shocked', etc. etc.   Just report the story and let us decide our reaction to it.   My reaction with this story would be concerned, rather than 'in an uproar', and hoping the teacher is fired if the allegations are proved to be true.

Completely agree... Its easy to give a knee-jerk reaction as we have the benifit of responding without the burden of proof.

 

But, news such as this is not-uncommon in Thailand, and is thus, quite believable...    Thus, IF this can be proven, I agree with the comments made helloagain [extreme response].

 

Given the frequency of such news in Thialand it is clearly time the Authroties get involved and put a CCTV up in all classrooms to protect both teachers and students.

Agreed... Its like the 'netizen outrage' comments... when we only read of the issue while its reported that there is outrage at the same time...    the media is 'trying to generate the outrage' rather than factually reporting on it.

Unless forced to do so by the 'boss' so that the issue would quickly and quietly go away.... 

 

Of course, there is also a strong likihood of wrong doing... but there needs to be some form of proof. 

 

If this teacher has behaved like this with this child, he already has a reputation and has behaved like this before.

One of the issues in Thai schools is that 'teacher violence' is seen as somewhat of a norm rather than the objectionable exception...    its seems to be culturally accepted as teachers are revered, especially amongs the lower socio-economic classes.

 

- its always the poor kids at poor schools that take a beating...    never those kids with 'powerful parents'.

 

 

I wonder how many of us would react if something like this happened to our children. 

I wonder if anything like this 'could' happen to our children - firstly, would we put our children in such as school ?, I suspect some of us might have to....

... then would the teachers themselves know not to 'treat' a Thai/Western child in the same manner for the knowledge that our cultural norms will not tollerate such behavior and there will be an exacting and strong response.

A similar thing happened to a teacher at my high school in the 70s. His life and career were ruined, he was chronically depressed for years, he sued the family and the girl, after many years she admitted to making up a story. In this case if it's genuine there should be a way to corroborate the story.
