A 38-year-old man was rushed to the hospital in serious condition after his arm was severely cut by a hand-held cutter while working outside his residence in Sri Racha District.

The incident occurred at an unnumbered apartment in Moo 8, Surasak Subdistrict. Rescue personnel from the Sawang Prateep Foundation responded to the distress call, finding Mr. Suriya Netkan with a deep laceration on his right arm, exposing the bone. First aid was administered on-site before he was urgently transported to Phyathai Hospital for further medical treatment.

Neighbours reported hearing cries for help and rushed to the scene. One witness described finding Mr. Suriya bleeding profusely while working on a table outside his home. "I was shocked and didn't know what to do at first. I quickly called the rescue team and used cloth to stop the bleeding," a neighbour recounted.

Another resident, Mrs. Somphit Noiprom, 56, who was in her backyard at the time, said, "I heard the shouts and came running. He was covered in blood, and I was so shaken I could barely make the call to the rescue team. He often works outside his room, but I'm not sure how this happened."

Rescue personnel quickly stabilised Mr. Suriya and transported him to the hospital. Doctors are now treating him for the severe injury, and his condition remains under close observation.

I think the blade was not designed for that equipment.

Wood cutting blade for angle grinders are a thing.

It is a sad fact that Thailand produces various blades to fit 4" angle grinders that are not actually meant for angle grinders, usually meaning the guards are removed to facilitate this. Even more shocking when you look around on a building site, some of the labourers small children sitting among unguarded and plugged in power tools of various sorts!!

Use the right tool in the correct way for the job and most likely you will be fine.

But this is a case of,  a tool using the wrong tool.  :coffee1:

I actually had one of those. My neighbors kinda freaked out seeing it. I called it "The most dangerous saw in the world". However, I have/had, literally thousands of hours experience with a 4" grinder. Yet, I was still a bit scary. The guard wasn't big enough for the 4 1/2" blade.

The blade probably 'kicked back' when it hit a nail or something similar.  If you're not holding the cutter very firmly, then it will jump out of your hand ....

A mate and forum member had a similar incident a few years back, his blade and grinder was a big one!

Sliced his leg to the bone when it kicked back!

I thought that he posted here about it, but can't find anything. I can't ask him because he passed away in 2022 (from other causes) 😞

Even fully guarded power saws make me nervous!

I have the very same angle grinder, and it's an unsafe tool in the way of how you switch it on and off.

In my opinion all angle grinders should have a switch that if you lose grip, it automatically switches off, as in the picture below, and has a braking system that stops the blade instantly.

yes very true.

The picture shows , guard removed, handle removed. you can see the handle bolt hole in the pic.

even with that crazy cutting blade, ( wrong tool for job ) if he had, the handle on and two hands on the tool. he most likely would have been fine, as any jam or kick

, you could hold,   no problem.

TIT and the rest of the world.  :stoner:

Stop it.

It a 4'' angle grinder not a wood cutting tool.

Grinders are fine for cutting wood if used correctly.

Always make sure the the rotation of the blade is such that if it catches, it will pull away from you and not towards you.

I used to work in a workshop where people would take the guard off these and I still have scars on my knuckles - 20 years later.

As to using that kind of blade on an angle grinder- just don't.

Aberration, and I agree. It looks like something out of a horror movie. The poor sod crossed that line between improvisation and stupidity.

Correct for a circular saw but not intended for use on an angle grinder.

He probably uses sunglasses when welding too. And cleans his nails with a knife.

Stupidity is its own punishment.
